So, I use sleep mode and hibernation mode pretty regularly with my Windows 10 64-bit Machine. It worked flawlessly on my 560, 960, 1060, and 2070 Super. Ever since getting the XC3 3080 Ultra, it cannot recover from either mode, and the second it reaches windows it goes in to a blue screen crash with "PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA (nvlddmkm.sys)". I have the newest drivers and firmware, and the card works great otherwise. What's going on? I kind of .. uhm, rely on those modes. Anybody able to help, EVGA staff or anyone else?

I have the same problem after installing my ftw3 3090. I don't get a blue screen but I cannot wake my computer up from sleep, it just restarts.

I don't have a 30 series card yet... lol    but I had a similar problem a while ago with a 2080Ti and had to set the power profile in Windows to default then it worked.  Maybe try a new Windows load if you have an extra drive laying around to see if it works.

Another 3000 series issue?  Sleep mode, that's all I use, my PC never gets shot down so this would be an issue for me, I'm wonder about this now.

I'm running a 3090 FTW3 Ultra with Precision X1 version 1.1.0.9. For me, I've found that Precision X1 is the culprit.  If it is running when sleep mode is entered, my PC shows the 'nvlddmkm.sys' error on waking.  If it is running when Hibernate is entered the PC has to re-boot twice and do a 'disc check'.  If I close PX1 before entering either sleep or hibernate the PC wakes normally as it should - of course I have to load PX1 in manually again when it does wake up.

That's why I use Afterburner instead.

I'll have to give that a try. But my fan curve goes back to default the second I exit PX1 and I need that curve..?

I thought that even if you uninstall PX1 the settings should be preserved..

I set Precision to not auto start.
I launch it when ever I want to control LED settings only. Save, then close.

Disable auto start and close it, see if that helps?

Prefer Maximum Performance.
The rest of PC including MOBO is:
950w EVGA (Don't know the model) PSU
i7 - 8700k
32 GB of DDR4 - 3200
MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

I haven't updated BIOS on motherboard, I was told not to play with that unless I needed to for upgrading CPU because I could brick the hardware. The GPU firmware is updated (as X1 kind of forces you to.) I'm going to try their closing X1 trick real quick though.

I thought so too, but nope. I'm gonna take a video real quick to show that it doesn't.

Here, I just made a video to show you guys. Notice that I do not allow 0 fan speed at any point on the curve for any of the fans. Yet, the second I exit the X1 software, my 3080 just gives me the finger and undoes all of my changes. The second I open X1 back up, it fixes itself. ???

It might be that only offsets continue to work after PX1 is closed, and not custom fan profiles. Setting to a fixed fanspeed, I believe, works still when PX1 closes.

I belive that it's always been that way for PX1 and AB.

Also.. yeah.. PX1 is what breaks it. It just went in to hibernation just fine with PX1 closed. That's really annoying. lol This XC3 runs WAY too hot at idle with default fan curve... It idles hotter than my 2070 Super ran at full load. :/ I hope they fix this software soon.

PX1 1.1.1 is out now, just released. However, I don't know if that was fixed.

If not, letting EVGA tech support know would be a good idea - https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

EVGA is so good at this, they went back in time and fixed the software negative several/minutes hours after I posted. Impressive.

For what it's worth, my test bench has had a revolving door of 3080 and 3090 cards, both XC3 and FTW3, and I've tested all of the versions of PX1 as we've released them (or even before we've released them).  I generally put this system to sleep before I leave for the day, and I've had no sleep issues since the 30 Series has launched.

I'm not posting that to say that you guys are crazy; just that there isn't necessarily an obvious common denominator here.  I'd suggest those mentioning sleep issues post full system specs, OS version, and possibly some related programs (PX1, MSI AB, iCUE, memory RGB software, fan controller software, etc.).

My specs:
3080 FTW3, 3090 FTW3 Ultra, 3080 XC3, 3090 XC3
Z390 FTW
i5 8500K
8GB RAM
Win 10 Enterprise, 2004

Programs running:
NCP, GFE, PX1 v1.1.1.

Now, with that said,  I decided to reinstall the latest GeForce driver and update to PX1 v1.1.1.  Just did an express install via GFE, nothing else.  I updated PX1 via the auto-updater.  After that, I got a restart after sleep, which seemed to be related to the new driver update (low resolution on restart, which corrected itself).  I tested again after the restart with PX1 open and got another restart when waking up.

I uninstalled PX1, chose to remove system settings, double-checked whether there were any profile folders in AppData\Local\EVGA (there weren't), and restarted.  I tested sleep without PX1, and it went to sleep and woke up normally.

Since it was working fine without PX1, I reinstalled PX1 v1.1.1.  After, I opened it up, verified the version in the info tab, left it open, and put the system to sleep.  It woke up normally.  Tested again, still wakes up normally.  Restarted, opened PX1, and still wakes up normally.

It's possible that in my case it was just a combination of updating the driver and PX1 at the same that, perhaps, caused a sleep issue that I didn't previously have.  It's also possible that system files were overwritten when I updated PX1.  Either way, a restart after the driver update and a reinstall of PX1 may have been the solution for me here.

My understanding is that they likely fixed it in a previous version one or two back, since our SW team asked me to check with people who were reporting issues several versions ago.  Good to know that it's working for you guys.

I have the EXACT opposite issue for my 3090 FTW3U... I NEVER come out of sleep, the system wakes, but two things happen, either perpetual black screen or it comes back with error on the video card in device manager and I’m in 480 resolution, which I then need to reboot or removed the 3090 from device manager and scan for it To detect, add and then it works.

Absolutely is the videocard causing the issue... put my 2080 back in and did a dozen sleeps without a single issue, put the 3090 FTW3U back in and fails every time.

Was there ever a time where sleep worked with the 3090 FTW3U?  Does having PX1 installed make a difference one way or the other?  Have you tried switching the card to the secondary BIOS?

No it's never worked from me.  I'm coming from a 2080 TI KingPin and NEVER once had a wake issue..  my system is the same, I simply did the physical install, DDU & driver to latest. over the past month I've updated MBD bios, did the 500W bios, updated to every nvidia driver release including hotfix, updated PX1 through every version, updated my LG OLED 4K bios too... no change so far.

Every time I wake it's trapped in black screen or I see the Yellow Exclamation on the card in Device manager.

Other than this sleep/wake issue - the card is super stable and fast.

Thanks

Could be drivers?, this is weird. If that's the case I would have a problem with that as I'm using sleep mode all the time.

TEST --> try the Nvidia 456.71 driver

https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3139679
theskyisthelimit99
Just an update, it was suggested in another thread, that going back to 456.71 driver would cure the sleep issue and bsods.
So far i'm happy to say it has (even trying ram at defaults with cpu at defaults with that newest driver didnt).

Its pulling a ton of (expected) watts though, 10900k 1.339 load 5.1ghz with 43" lcd and peripherals im sitting around 705 watts.

Might also want to try a Power flush

      1 - Shut down

2 - Unplug PC & anything connected to PC that is plugged into the wall (monitor, printer, USB hub ...)

3 - Now hold "start button" in for 20 sec to discharge capacitors ....

      4 - Plug in & reboot

Re: Computer CANNOT go in to sleep mode or hibernation mode since getting XC3 Ultra 3080?? 2020/11/28 13:20:55 (permalink)
Hi
I bought the EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra to replace my old GTX1070, and since then, I am getting BSOD/rebooting issue while PC is waking up from sleep or hibernate, and then I found this thread.

My PC :
CPU: 2700X
MB: ASUS C7H /BIOS:3103
EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra /Driver 457.30
Windows 10 20H2

My testing steps is following:
1.Install  457.30 driver first.
2.Install PX1(1.1.2)/MSI Afterburner(4.6.3 beta2).
3.With PX1 running and custom Fan control enabled, the issue occurred on waking up pc.
4.With MSI Afterburner running and custom Fan control enabled, the issue occurred on waking up pc.
I tested them separate.

But I finally found, that if I disable custom Fan control feature(even not to exit or uninstall these apps), they work just fine with sleep and hibernate. I even tried to run the Apps together, put PC into sleep, none of BSOD or rebooting issue after resuming from sleep/hibernate.

All I do is disable custom Fan control feature, but how could we not to use the feature, right?

I am wondering if it is a driver issue. I found a discussion on Afterburner Forums of Guru3d, they said it is driver issue, nothing to fix in the App(Afterburner). On reddit in 457.30 thread, some people starting to report similar sleep/wake crash issue. Most of them use FTW3 card, but on other thread for example Afterburner Forum of Guru3d, the OP's card is Gigabyte 3080 Vision OC with the same wake from sleep BSOD issue.

Anyway, I have reported the issue to Nvidia.
Hope my experience helps and hope the issue will be fixed.

Just wanted to add that I was having the same problem with reboots after resuming from sleep (s3). I originally attributed this to a BIOS update on my motherboard since I updated everything prior to installing my 3080. However, it looks like this may be nvidia driver related, at least in my case.

I was able to easily reproduce a reboot from s3 on driver versions 457.09 and 457.30. I used DDU and reverted back to 456.71 and so far so good. It hasn't been long enough to know for sure if this is resolved, but so far I've gone through multiple sleep cycles without a reboot and that's certainly an improvement from the newest driver versions.
