I downloaded the beta but didn't get around to trying it out before the beta ended. If you can find a decent group to play with, i bet the game is fun to play.

Didn't see it was listed, and I feel many don't know about it, but Insurgency has co-op gameplay, and is always fun to play with some friends! Think of it like a Battlefield meets Counter Strike. EDIT: also to add, if it's just you and 1 other buddy, Battlefield 3 can be picked up for dirt cheap($5) and the co-op missions are worth a play through a few times.

I never got to play a BF3 co-op mission even though I bought BF3 for my sister just for that purpose. She is more interested in getting stoopid-faced drunk each and every day. Apparently belching is some kind of mating call for quarts of beer since after she gets finished belching I can hear the top twist off and she starts gulping again. Sometimes it sounds like she is in a tunnel or echo chamber while talking on the phone. I suspect she has a tongue like a lizard that can reach the bottom of the quart and snag all of the foam from the very bottom.

Farcry 4 can be played with 1 other player also I hear the multiplayer for the new mass effect is good oh dead island and dying light are also good ones

This is probably not what you're looking for but Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can be a lot of fun with a small group of friends (up to 5 for competitive). Very high skill ceiling though.

F.E.A.R. 3 has an interesting two person co-op for the story mode of the game. Far Cry 3 was good for up to 4 players but it has it's bugs and was kind of short and repetitive.
