I'm really freaking out. Family coming in for thanksgiving. Wanted to do a VR demo for them. Now my computer won't boot.

Turn on no posts no bios. Just constant click every second or two. All USB devices disconnected. All hard drives disconnected. Just video card and sound card connected. Tried all 3 bios and same thing. Removed cmos battery. Reset bios holding the red button down for 60 seconds. Didn't seem to do anything. Is there another way to reset bios to defaults? Although I don't think that would do anything either.

I did check 24 pin power and 8 pin power plugs are in and secure.

Just seems something is stopping it from booting that is causing the clicking. Or the clicking is the problem. I did notice the boot code I'm getting is 60. But it's like 67 on another bios. All other bios hear the clicking. Which tells me it has little or nothing to do with the bios. More so seems to be some kind of hardware failure. Maybe the motherboard itself.

All my system specs are updated in signature if helps. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Hoping someone can narrow this down for me before my family arrives. In about 3 hours.

I noticed just now. When I push the reset button on the board it makes the same click but won't restart the computer. Just clicks when I push it and nothing.

Also notice each click every second reset button blinks in concession. Which tells me the motherboard reset is in a constant loop. Is this possible? Gotta be a hardware failure somewhere

Sorry to hear about your issue...

Check that the CPU cooler is still in place and secure.  Maybe loosen a bit and snug it back down.
    Try another PSU if available.
Try 1 stick of ram in slot 1.  Alternate with a couple different sticks just in case.

A clicking? I'd lean towards a bad PSU. Make sure all of the power connections are seated firmly on both the PSU and the motherboard and add-in cards.

Also, if you have a surge protector or UPS, try plugging directly into the wall (the surge protector or UPS may have gone bad).

OK, here's what I did. Found out there is something loose on my board. Not sure if one of the 8 pin power cables is loose, or the cable itself or not pushed all the way down. Anyway, what I did was wiggle and push my mem chips down and and wiggle them a little to the right and left. Then the clicking stopped and it booted normally.

I do keep my pc pretty clean of dust, every 6 months I take it apart and clean everything thoroughly. I do take all boards out and clean slots of dust before putting boards back in.

    So, here's my conclusion...

The clicking was definitely my reset switch looping, because it wasn't getting the proper electric flow to continue the boot process. Still not convinced it's my mem chips. Might be in motherboard somewhere. But I have it narrowed down. So, it's a bandaid for now, until I have time to pull it apart. But at least I'm feeling better and don't think I have to replace my board, quite yet anyway.

Thanks for the reponses. You guys pointed me in the right direction.

Check loose power cables 24 pin and 8 pin. Sounds kinda weird, I didn't think it was anything so simple either. But do it, while booting, (BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING LIVE) wiggle and push your power cables firmly, Wiggle mem chips. DON'T FORCE ANYTHING - BE GENTLE! Maybe wiggle Vid card a bit.

If your reset button is in a loop chances are you're just not getting the proper electric signal to continue the booting process. It worked for me, just be very careful. Then if it does work. Take some time to pull out all your cards and mem chips out of board. Of course, switched off and unplugged. Then gently blow some air spray into your slots and on your devices before you put them back in.

Make sure boards are firm and STRAIGHT! Meaning, video cards, sound cards, USB cards, memory chips ect...

    Hope this helps.

All 3 bios did same thing. Which made me realize it wasn't software related.
