Asgard lays its plans for DDR5 memory, 128GB 5600 MHz kits in 2022 - VideoCardz.com

Asgard is a gaming brand of Jiahe Jinwei, whom we covered yesterday. This manufacturer has already received the first batch of Micron’s DDR5 memory chips for trial mass production. The company confirmed yesterday that the trial production has been successfully completed without any issues. This means that the manufacturer can now lay plans for its future DDR5 kits. Jinwei’s subbrand Asgard is already manufacturing 16GB and 32GB kits with speeds at 4800 MHz. This is a standard speed for DDR5 memory which will be supported by the upcoming Intel 12th Gen Core “Alder Lake” series later this year. But those speeds are just a starting point for this new technology. The specifications enable much higher frequencies going up to 8400 MHz. Some manufacturers even confirmed that they are preparing overclocked 10 GHz kits, but those are probably years away from now.

According to the roadmap published by IThome, Asgard is currently engaged in the development of 5600 MHz DDR5 kits. They would be available in 32GB and 128GB capacities with a CAS latency of 46 cycles. The company is yet to confirm its 6400 MHz kits launch scheduled, but they are not expected till 2022-2023. Interestingly, despite a significant frequency increase, they would still require a voltage of just 1.1 volts.

Looks like 2022 is a year in which we'll see much higher memory speeds in my opinion provided the CPUs can handle the speeds as well.

128GB sticks would be pretty nice especially if the speeds get faster and faster. With the increase in SSD speeds it seems like a good match.
