Hi,

I have a 1080 TI FTW3.

I am using Windows for gaming and another OS (MacOS, with another graphics card) for work.
For the other OS, there are unfortunately no NVIDIA drivers available anymore, which means that I am unable to control the fans.

Unfortunately, when I am working in the other OS, the fan of the GPU is loud enough to be annoying.

Since I am unable to define a fan curve from the OS, I am wondering whether there is another way.

A modified bios, perhaps?

Thank you

Hello,

While technically that is a way we do not recommend installing a modified bios for the video card.
But other than that it would only be the precision X software that you would need to use.

Hi,

The precision X software is Windows-only, requires drivers, and the settings in questions do not persist across reboots, do they?

Thank you

The settings are strictly anchored to the software so they only take effect while you are booted into your OS so long as you save your settings in a profile and opt to have the software load when Windows starts.

You can Save the Precision XOC to start on reboot

If their is No load [Running Mac OS & Second card] on your 1080Ti FTW3 - the temp & MHz should be low -  the fans may stop or turn at a reduced speed with your Stock BIOS

The Second Option: Set & Save a Fixed RPM on your GPU with EVGA Precision XOC - then just close the XOC & Fans Will remain @ that RPM ---> Watch Your temps - because you Just Locked the fan speed

Doing so survives reboots?

Thanks :)

Yes ... that is a Mixed blessing ... if you set low fan speed & then try to game - & forget to change it
