I'm not going to advise you ,... just wish you luck on your attempt to make a change for betterment of yourself.
That is always a hard leap to take.  I'm sure alot of us wish we had the courage to try something else.

I changed from Telcom to banking about 9 years ago.  I am in my late 40s now.
Lots of schooling to become a security officer and IT manager of an even more regulated industry.
(I did not think that was possible coming from telcom) But I have learned a lot but I have to say going back to school at my age was not fun like it was when i was young.  The photo graphic memory was gone so I had to take lots of notes and I was not always top of the class like I as in my younger days so that was an ego hit as well.

But in the end I would say for me it was well worth it I enjoy my new work work in a new field  and I am considering a new change in a near future as banking is getting stale.

Best of luck with what ever you choose.  :)

Just trying to give Steve a little push. He's too timid too much of the time.

When we were younger...we approached things with "no fear".  Keep that mindset and you will conquer anything.  Good luck with the change...

You got this...it's frightening because you have responsibilities in your later years that you didn't in your younger, but you can do it if you push hard and keep moving..

I think if you want to be a bartender/server/OWNER of a microbrewery you can do it...go for it!

Go for it. I did a big change in my early 30's.. was also working for Telecommunication company and making very good money, but there was no opportunity for growth. Enrolled myself in college (I had been to college at age 18-19 but never completed), ended up with 2 degrees both with honors, started working in Forensic Audit about 8-9 years ago and haven't looked back. The work really is not my 'hearts desire' in any way, but it helps pay the bills. I've also been a builder, painter, years in retail banking, a few years in the surfing industry (making surfboards, but not a shaper)... what have you got to lose vs what have you got to gain?

In the same boat. Hard for anyone to give you correct advise on what career to delve into next, but don't let age discourage you. Follow your gut and give it 200%!

Well since it’s Bend Oregon I have to say you could work at Blockbuster. Really surprised the town still has one.
