I posted this Thread here because don't know if any hardware is part of this issue. Hi, I recently came across this 2 weeks ago I can no longer put my PC to sleep because as soon I click on sleep mode it always automatically comes on again. Before this 2 weeks I had no problem putting it to sleep work fine. Now for the power setting s they are all set to eventually go to sleep if not in use for 2 hours. I have wake on lan in Bios off. So power settings are same as before this problem arise. Anyone have any suggestions aside from the obvious or any help.? Also before I forget experience few power outages lately before this happens but PC go on off mode right away and when turn back on it respond normally I would not get any error logs or nothing related. Thanks to lmcke169 I figure what is waking PC from sleep automatically tried this to turn off my Ethernet from waking my pc from sleep I turn off disabled Yet still wakes from sleep. I am hard lined.

Try using windows system restore to restore your os to a day when everything was working right. You haven’t messed with any bios settings?

You can open command prompt and input the command "powercfg -lastwake"
The results should tell you exactly what device woke your pc last.

Did you make any hardware changes? Would anything recently have of changed in the room like a fan going? It's hard to think without a hardware change or something causing constant mouse motion that it's not a software based issue. One other thing is do you use an anti virus software or mining software?

Tried that Sajin is no go still comes on. there has not been any hardware changes for 3 months and mouse I make sure I leave alone when putting to sleep. Will have to try reset to previous time see that helps.

Hoggle You can always use the Intel driver assistant to make sure it's current driver. Intel releases a lot of updates it seems and vendors are often far behind the current release. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
Thanks just updated with link you gave me. Installed drivers which need it update said bluetooth and wifi. Not connected via wifi but updated it regardless. Did not fix but better be safe than sorry.

After you switch it if it doesn't let you sleep right away you should be able to disable and re-enable the device to avoid rebooting if that is something you really want to avoid.

If it’s coming from the psu then it’s likely not related to your issue. The clicking is most likely coming from the psu’s regulator from switching from high to low to high power modes when your pc goes to sleep for a few seconds, and then wakes back up.

If the network is causing it to wake up, go into your MB BIOS, go to the Advanced Menu, and there will usually be a setting for onboard devices. Turn off "Wake on LAN", and then try again. If it's still waking, try the last wake command to see if it's still the network or something else.

In bios, make sure your s3 is set to suspend to ram and that when pc loses power it set to power off, that way it shouldnt do the coming back on thing. In windows, you most likely have to go to your power configuration, set to balanced, then go to the advanced properties and set everything up in there and save, then reboot with all these settings and it should work. Thats how i have mine setup and sleep and hibernate work, although sleep gets flaky sometimes because its windows.

Did all things suggested was already set to S3 to ram and pc loses power to stay off. But did notice in Windows power options I had to change to balance once before it showed was change to High performance so I am going to wait and search about windows 11 BUG might be going around messing sleep on PC's. Hmm this might explain why I set monitor to sleep after 25 min and changes it back to never. This has to be Windows 11 issue. Change wake timers to off. None this work. But did search about Windows 11 having issues staying on sleep mode so has to be answer to my problem.

Launch the Device MGR, scroll to the USB Controllers menu. Go through each item listed and where there is a "Power Management" tab, open it and make sure you check to allow the computer to turn off this device. There are several of them typically. See how that works out.

NP, happy to try and help. One thing I didn't see mentioned yet in your thread is Wake Timers. In the Power options > Advanced Power settings > expand the Sleep menu and verify that "Allow Wake Timers" is disabled.

Just had another thought. Right click the start button > click search > type Control Panel > Launch the Control panel app and select "Security and Maintenance". Once there expand Maintenence and select Change maintenence settings. Then remove the check mark that allows maintenence to wake your computer if it's checked.

You can go into more detail with Sleep via command prompt or powershell to see what devices can wake up your system and enable/disable them. Check to see the level of sleep support you have. Command prompt/PS as admin, and type in "powercfg /a". You can also see what tasks are scheduled to wake up your PC. Run an elevated PS window and type in "Get-ScheduledTask | where {$_.settings.waketorun}". Check whether Hybrid Sleep is turned off. From the Power Options menu, click on your power plan and select Advanced. Look for Allow Hybrid Sleep, and make sure it's turned off. Also, have you tried to turn off hibernate or clear the hiberfil.sys file? Sometimes hibernate causes its own issues. Open command prompt or powershell as an admin, then type in "powercfg.exe /h off" and restart. This deletes the hiberfil.sys file, so you can then reenable it by command prompt/PS as an admin and type in "powercfg.exe /h on" and the file will be created new. Or leave it off and test. See if that helps. If still not working, it never hurts to run the Windows Troubleshooter (choose the one for Power), try a clean boot through MSConfig by using the selective startup, run an "sfc /scannow", or repairing the OS files through DISM by using command prompt/PS as an admin and typing in "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth". Sleep issues aren't fun. But you do get to learn a bit about messing around with Windows trying to fix it.

Sajin If it’s coming from the psu then it’s likely not related to your issue. The clicking is most likely coming from the psu’s regulator from switching from high to low to high power modes when your pc goes to sleep for a few seconds, and then wakes back up.
So could be PSU meaning could be hardware related. grr I hope not but going have to keep troubleshooting see if it is.
