Can I use Sata in Perif

All,
 
I did some searching, and tried to find the pin outs of the G3 650 Supernova to see if I could answer this myself, but I couldn't find em.
 
I have a G3 650 Supernova.  I have 8 2TB hdd's in my case I need to power.  It only powers 6 SATA offically.  I want to use the perif port to power two additional 2TB hdd's via Sata cables.  I believe in theory this is fine, but looking for confirmation.
 
The sata Cable is from a G5 750 Supernova that I have as spare.  
 
Any reason not to do this.

    SATA and PERIF are pinned/keyed the same and are interchangeable.

    Cables are also interchangeable between a 650 G3 and a 750 G5.
