Comparing the Xbox One version to the PC version, is like xbox graphics vs. modern day PC graphics.  It's truly unbelievable how good the MP looks and plays.  Also the SP is absolutely BREATHTAKING.  I play on a 43" 4k TV.  It is incredible

2007 can keep its game.  I own and have over 200 hours on the original.  It's not worth $100 to buy the game again bundled with some newer failures.  No thanks.

Keep telling yourself that... lol - it is one of the best looking games I have ever seen in 4k - and it runs perfect!  It's great!!!!  I'll try to make a video on my next day off.  During Black Friday weekend, I picked up the Infinite Warfare Digital Deluxe version (infinite warfare, infinite warfare season pass and Modern Warfare remastered) for $63.00.  Totally worth it - even if just for the Remastered COD.

Now they have supply drops for the MP, new maps, and tons of new features.  Its so fun!

200 hours? You just barely scratched the surface, especially with the PC mod support that game had. I had almost 3k hours total on the game...

I actually had my own 32 person server at one point with an active clan and we did scrims, etc. There were 2 key versions of the game being "1.2" and "1.7".

1.2 was famous for ZomDB, a PVP zombie mod where your account could level up 1-200 and unlock certain abilities as you got higher (both as a soldier and zombie). Youtube probably has some good vids of this mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD94Ge2ddUA you had multiple classes of zombies, each with their own ability you could use.

1.7 introduced Chinatown, broadcast, creek, Christmas crash, and killhouse. There were other zombie mods for this version but probably the best mod out there was paintball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NJOBFqn0bQ & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFUnioxhggg

Just another example is the alien mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEqM7tmyeiw
    and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4302AGCSn8

Not to mention all the custom maps (an example shown in the first alien mod vid + paintball vid).

If anything, CoD4 was better than MWR. Dedicated servers, unmatched mod support, custom maps, etc. It was everything BUT a failure. If the remastered version was able to do all of these things and keep the updated engine (where you can actually snipe people when you aim at them rather than a 10% chance of hitting), graphics, etc. it would be a hell of a lot better. Dedicated servers were really the heart of "community". It's a good nostalgia trip for the most part right now but lacking in what truly made the first one fun.

Yeah, I know COD4 was awesome. But I bought it in 2008 when it was on its decline. I played some mods and did some stuff. But, it was in the past and the clan I was a part of was in the process of moving on. The next game we got into was BF:BC2 in which I played over 800 hours. After that Battlefield experience, I just couldn't go back to COD. I still can't go back to COD. I never said that COD4 was a failure. I said that some of the newer versions which are bundled with the COD4 remastered version are failures (in my eyes at least).

Gotcha. Yeah, the COD series died pretty much in my eyes after they started repeating the same game and adding all this futuristic stuff.

Remastered games can be quite good if done correctly. The best example of this is the latest DOOM.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

old games may not have many playing them, usually after 5 years the game fades as new titles take over

CoD is so used to selling you the same game over and over that they literally now are selling you a 10 year old game again... and apparently people are excited about it.

This game looks incredible.  The campaign at 4k is absolutely incredible.  The MP seriously looks 10 times better than the remastered version on the Xbox one.

To each his own.  I don't regret my purchase because I got Infinite warfare, the season pass, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare remastered for under 70 bucks on the PC

Maybe in 10 more years they can sell it to you again? It'll look mind blowing in 32K in 2027. Yours for the special price of only $124.99.

Re: DLC Rip-Off! Cash of Duty: Modern Welfare Re:cash 2017/03/09 13:03:26 (permalink)
To buy the $20 Modern Warfare Remastered version, you had to buy a $60 game.  That was silly enough.  Add to that the fact that the $60 game must be physically in/on your computer (or attached to your electronic game account) for the $20 game to function.  So, it really is an $80 bundle through and through with $0 actual value when compared separately.  In other words, you HAVE to stop thinking about the purchases, deals, and transactions as separate games. Except that...

If you purchased the season pass for an extra $50.  Too bad, because the season pass doesn't cover the cost of the DLC for the Modern Warfare Remastered version.  The Season Pass only applies to the Infinite Warfare game. What?!

If you want to have the latest DLC maps in the Modern Warfare Remastered version, you need to pay an additional $15.  So then, finally, after the $80 + $15 (or $80 + $50 + $15), you can now play the most high-res version of the most recent renditions of the old maps from Modern Warfare.  You and the daily maximum of less than 1000 players from around the world, can play in the same maps and matches over and over again.  That is a terrible price to value ratio.

DO NOT BUY THE DLC MAPS! Please DON'T!!!  If you do purchase the DLC maps, you will have EVEN LESS players around the world to play with (since its doubtful that all of the less than 1000 players will give in to this terrible deal) and at the same time you will be sending a message to Activision saying that this is an OK way to run a business.

Activision SHOULD have sold it as a standalone game at a reasonable price, should have included all the maps into the remastered game, or should have at least made the season pass purchased with the bundle cover the cost of the Modern Warfare Remastered DLC maps.

I'm not surprised at all. It's Activision + Infinity Ward.
