Great just great! This up coming Monday I have to be part in the screening processes for people when they enter the hospital.  I just don't know what side of the hospital I will be at. Either at the emergency room, clinic, or visitation for visitors. One doctor told me there is only a total of 30-40 respirators in the whole hospital. Man they need to get more ASAP. Funny I was sent an email to be on the look out for people who are stealing gloves, mask, sanitize, and yes toilet paper SMH. I bet house keeping is the ones stealing all the toilet paper.

Yikes!! I surprised your able to know what your picking up. Usually the lab techs that pick stuff up to transport have no clue what they have because of patient privacy.

I'm not a lab tech. I'm working a state emergency operations center the last few weeks.

Im in the transportation sector. While Im not in the direct line of the supply chain, I am part of it.
Even if Utah declares a shut down, my company will be exempt from it.

It's important that everyone realize that it isn't the flu and nobody has ever had this in America before this year. You can be strong and healthy and recover but 40% of cases under 60 are people who need to be hospitalized even if they recover. Do you want that medical expense? Also anyone over 60 might die if they catch it. Do you want to cause that? The flu is different because people at risk can get a flu shot. For this they can't.
I think the states are doing the right thing but I also feel they need to cut off interstate traffic and have other states fallow the same path. California can't do a shutdown indefinitely and it will only take one infected person getting into a large city for it to be worthless to have of shutdown. Since we have seen community spread in Hawaii we know that being in the mid 80's and sunny doesn't make it go away so we need to look at this being around during the summer.

NYC here.. frigging thing is spreading like wildfire. Pretty much on lock down here, only essential services supposed to be open. NY just passed 8,300 confirmed infected (5,100 right here in NYC), although I'm sure the real number is much higher. Expected as much though, considering the amount of people here and the crowded subways etc.. Unfortunately Mayor De Blasio and Gov Cuomo did nothing but bloviate on tv for far too long, and didn't act until the virus already had a solid foothold.
So weird sitting here with the window open and it's almost quiet; usually there's a near constant sound of cars beeping and sirens and people yelling etc., but it's been virtually silent the entire time I've been typing this post.. surreal. I'm telecommuting for at least the next few weeks - lucky I have that option, same with my Mrs.

I have family in Brooklyn so you all stay safe too. I think Cuomo has tried to stay ahead of it but he bloviates so often that people tune him out. We don’t hear much from De Blasio here north of Albany but locally all these measures may help. Everybody stay safe... even the dopey millennials.

That's the problem now a days, people think we're over reacting, until it's too late. I literally got into an argument with someone who said they didn't care about this, Dude looked young and would probably survive COVID-19, unfortunately if he gets it and gives it to his wife, who happens to work at a senior home..... well... that could be bad. It's not about you or me, it's about doing our part in preventing the spread to those more vulnerable. I'm honestly scared because 76% of deaths in Italy have been of patients with high blood pressure, which I happen to have, my father as well. It runs in the family.

I have to go to work too because I work in a hospital. I am a officer at my hospital. Here in Texas they haven't shut down the state where your travel is restricted, but the governor declared a state of emergency. The county I live in just declared a state of emergency 2 days ago in which I thought it was pretty odd they did because the whole state of Texas is in a emergency already. I wonder how long it will take before travel is restricted. Hopefully never. 
They set different rules.
California has a restriction set until March 31st and our city of Los Angeles is restricted until April 19th. Businesses which refuse to close and are not essential, will lose their license. They're sending out certain agencies to check on complaince.
They refuse because they need cash to survive.
T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. I did read that they are going back and looking at younger people who got the virus and recovered, 3 weeks later.
They are finding scar tissue in their lungs and can cause up to 30% decrease in lung function. That's not good at all.
So it may not be over when you think it is over.
Also around 15% of 20 to 45 years olds need to be hospitalized. Less than older folks, but shows they are not immune to this.
Life goes on, heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, falls, assaults .... keep happening and need medical attention, surgery, hospitalization.
Hospitals do not have the extra capacity to handle the influx. Not enough beds and hardware This is why they want to flatten the curve.
This too shall come to pass. The USA and the world will recover. It will take time.
Now is a good time if you can afford to, support your local businesses, order some take out and leave a good tip.
Please stay safe, think of others, remain calm, try to keep a distance from others and do your part to stop/slow the spread.

i wish this would also mean that no payments would have to be made since this is going to make people lose a lot of money.
