Cable to 1080 GTX

I have EGVA Supernova G3 550 and a Asus 1080 GTX. (6+8)
Should i use 
1. Cable A + Cable B
or
2. Cable A only

    Use cable a if the card has both 6-pin & 8-pin connectors. Use cable b if the card only has a 8-pin connector.

    So one cable is thick enough to handle the load ?
