I've been looking at the CLC 360MM cooler.
As I search for reviews and opinions on other sites I'm amazed at the number of comments that advise replacing the fans.

What's wrong with the fans?
Is it because of the open frame design?

Would you people here give me that same advice?
Would appreciate all opinions. Thanks.

I would normally upgrade to all noctua fans but I am going to try Artic fans on this unit, will report back.

I don't have any experience with Arctic fans. I also like Noctua fans.
    But I have a few Corsair ML120's (non-led) that I could use.
I guess I'll just compare specs.

EDIT: ML120 specs are slightly better, mainly quieter at max speed. I'd still like to know why some people think the EVGA fans should be replaced.

Personally love the design of the fans, but they are very very loud. Thats why people recommend replacing them

Thank you. Makes sense as one reviewer mentioned the noise at full speed but the cooling performance was very good.
    They do look good.

Surely, there has to be a 360mm cooler on the market that doesn't need fan replacements out-of-box?

When I bought my AIO, I opted to spend the extra money for Noctua Redux fans (as I'm not a fan (heh heh) of the brown units).
The Noctuas are some of the best, quietest units available.  Especially when using the Chromax rubber pads to deaden vibration (and thus) sound transfer.

I checked the specs of the Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM. Specially designed for radiators. Impressive. I liked the blade design. You can tell it's made for pressure.
I was all set to order 3 when I noticed it doesn't include anything but screws. No mounting pads or anything else.
I can find the anti-vibration mount pads but no one carries the gasket for mounting on a radiator. Where did you get the accessories? Or did you not bother?

In fact, the pictures on the Noctua website doesn't show any wires coming out of the hub. And no supplied cables!

I guess I'll order the NF-A12's which is a compromise between pressure and cfm but comes with all the accessories.

I'm one of the few people in the world that likes the beige and brown color. Well, maybe "like" is too strong a word

EDIT: just realized none of the Noctua fan pictures show wires coming out of the hub! But still, there are no cables with the Redux.

I have six of them on my AIO.
I have two in the back of the case.
And I have 2 200mm Chromax fans for front intake.

I didn't bother with a gasket for the rad.  420mm rads are unusual to begin with.

And if you get the PWMs, you're fine.  Whatever speed you get.  Most modern boards allow fan control based on a thermal curve.
The only reason I hear ANYTHING is I have the speed high enough to produce a gentle "whoosh".
But my network switch and my home's AC are

And what do you mean there''s no cables on the Redux?

See the velcro-strapped cables coming down to the top of the disk cage?
Middle-right-hand side.  Coming out and dipping down between the front and back drive cages?

    All the PWM wires.

On the Noctua website all their fan pictures show fans with no cables and I didn't realize that until now.
I guess they think it cleans up the pictures.
I was silly to think the Redux was cableless coming out of the hub.

The fan package, as far as I can tell, has no extension cable like the NF-A12.
In other words, none of the normal accessories. Only screws.
Fortunately I already have some extension cables.

    Thanks for the explanations!

Yeah.  You can buy splitters, and the rubber corners and/or rubber mounts if you want them (I did).

Good heat control performance, fans good so far, but added one pull fan cpu speed triggered.
Had one case fan EVGA warrantee replaced..
Manually bump "flow control" software under stress conditions (loud) with outstanding thermal limit controlled.
My locked CPU will peak at over 125 watts much longer than reported held under 78c!

I have used the standard fans for my AIO but replaced the fans on my girlfriend because I wanted to do RGB lighting for her system. She doesn’t go for the rainbow effect but does like the fact she can pick any color she wants so it’s often been purple or green.

I've been taking my time building this new system because I'm waiting for EVGA to sell me a graphics card.
Computer is all finished without the graphics that I want.

So after all the research and discussion I decided to try the original fans. It has been reported that they are noisy at max speed.
So I'll try limiting them to less than max speed and see what my thermals are. I have them hooked up to a motherboard header.
But I have other fans to substitute when necessary. Can't wait to start testing.

All this time allowed me to go crazy with cable management. Best job I ever did!
