I been looking for an alternative for CCleaner due to malware making it into CCleaner builds, the new owners (Avast) data mining users of the software now.

Does anyone use wise care 365 (free version).

Bleachbit is good. It's not as user friendly and one click as CCleaner though. It's definitely more aggressive so you'll want to manually go through it. I use it and the built in Disk Cleanup and it's good enough for me.

Looks like the only option is to manually set each thing in Bleachbit. The UI is very basic. I might end up installing older version of CCleaner, one with out the ads popup or data mining.

I uninstalled wise care free version. I don't think that software does everything it claims it does.  Do a clean once, close & reopen the program, run the same clean again, shows some of the same stuff.

That stand alone from wise cleaner is ok. I do not care for it's fake privacy scan claiming to have found issues, only way to "fix" them is to get the paid version. Free privacy scanners don't seem find the same issues.

The last good version of CCleaner as far as I'm concerned is 5.40.  One thing I found while installing it though was that during the install process, it updated itself to 5.60.  I had to uninstall again and even removed it's permission in the firewall.  It still upgraded itself.  Finally pulled the ethernet cable on my system, reinstalled v5.40, went in the Task Scheduler and disabled CCleaner update checker, then reconnected the ethernet cable .  All is good now with v5.40...

That is weird. I'm running version 5.37. it never tried to upgrade itself.

It was weird.  Never saw anything like that happen before.  Happened two times on my system and also once on my laptop.  I downloaded version 5.40 .exe file and ran it from the desktop.  The install process all appeared normal.  When I launched the CCleaner, it showed I was running v5.60 instead.  Oh well, all good now and unless they change there ways, I'll be staying at v5.40 until I find a good alternative similar to CCleaner.

System Mechanic, have to pay for it tho. I've used it for over 10 years and works well.
