Blizzard will showcase new Overwatch 2 gameplay this month | KitGuru
 
This will be the first Overwatch 2 developer update, hosted by director Aaron Keller and a few other members of the development team. The update will focus on new maps and some of the changes coming to PvP in Overwatch 2
 
While there was some expectation that Overwatch 2 would come out this year, Blizzard has confirmed that the game won’t be arriving in 2021. Instead, we’ll be getting Diablo II: Resurrected this year. Overwatch 2 could release in 2022, but a release window has not been confirmed yet. Overwatch 2 will include a new PvE story mode, as well as new PvP modes and characters. Overwatch 1 will continue to be supported and will apparently be updated with new characters alongside Overwatch 2, or at least, that was Blizzard’s original plan. Whether or not that has changed remains to be seen.
 
The Overwatch 2 developer update steam takes place on the 20th of May.
 
I thin we won't see this game (overwatch 2) until 2022. 

 
Even though Starcraft 2 sold six million copies, they have no plans for a Starcraft 3.  No plans for a Warcraft IV.    Blizzard are now just making trashy, online only soulless junk cash cows.   Like Bioware and Origin Systems Inc, what made them once great has totally vanished.

The Blizzard of old told epic stories through gameplay - now we're expected to fanboy over a 5 minute cinematic.
 
No wonder Kaplan left - I bet he couldn't stand to see the monster he'd built.

I still have to understand if this game is going to be a full stand-alone game or more like an expansion..
 
The name makes it sound like a sequel to the original but from what I read the actual game looks more like an expansion.

I might play the pve section of this over watch game, i get so frustrated while playing 1 since people are so fast, they just come and kill me, i cant even react, I might get some kills with pve :D

I'll take a look when it comes out. The original OW I liked the first couple of months it was out, but they made so many changes that I didn't like I just quit playing.. Maybe this will bring new life to it for me.

OH YAY... a brand new concept... "Battle Royale" lmao...
 
Blizzard has been horrible for over a decade now, Diablo III was a huge disappointment, and WoW should have let good things alone after "Burning Crusade"; that turned into a cash game soon after.
 
Diablo IV will either renew faith, or put the nail in the coffin. They've already got one foot in the grave after the Warcraft remake debacle, mobile Diablo game, and their horrible work environment; I'm actually seriously considering not getting Diablo IV just to vote with my money. Every time I turn around and read something about Blizzard/Gaming on the web its more disheartening...

Going to be honest, not sure how this new version of the PvP with 5v5 will work out after the team had spent years balancing for 6v6.

Agreed. I think there's a place for arena style games, but it's sad to see many great gaming companies focusing on that.

I hope there are some major improvements cuz what they have shown so far wasnt really promising

They've lost a lot key employees, and we've already had a taste of the PVE during Overwatch's limited time events. Those events got boring pretty fast so Overwatch 2 will really need to step up its game to be relevant.

I just hope that Blizzard would continue to expand some titles that made her name, instead of that kind of games...

He's been on the clock at Blizzard for years, even before he became head of Overwatch. Man probably needs some R&R.

I believe he and a few other Ex Blizzard executives are starting their own company called DreamHaven. They are currently doing consulting work for a few studios to generate revenue and stay afloat. I imagine though that they do have a game or two they'd love to develop if they can raise some funding.
