Yes, 20 years after it's release so you can now get the game free. It is difficult to try and determine Blizzard's logic on this. Maybe they want gamers to try out the old version so that when the remastered version arrives they'll have a little idea about what the game is all about.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Wasn't Starcraft II kind of playable for free too? Thought you only had to pay for the add-ons. I can be wrong there though

No you had to buy SC2 also - and pay for the expansion packs.  Same with SC1 and then when they released the Brood War expansion.

I downloaded and installed the original StarCraft as I used to play it in the late 90s - modem 2 modem!  Brought back great memories but the current version is almost unplayable - it's super laggy.  Also I tried playing about 5 different games and didn't make it through one without half the people leaving - so I gave up!

I remember my SC-Sessions via Lan 20 years ago. SC was amazing!

While we are on the subject, I'll take a Warcraft 2 remastered version

Eh, sounds like a nostalgia type of thing. Then again, there are whole gaming communities that exist around 80's gaming and emulators so I'm sure this freebie would excite some niche in South Korea.

Oh wow, now's the time to get this on a bunch of computers and play some good ol' custom maps.
