https://www.techpowerup.com/249888/bethesda-continues-to-struggle-with-fallout-76-refunds-now-a-possibility To say Fallout 76 is buggy is quite an understatement. At this point, some of the bugs, exploits, and problems are just hilariously bad. Tools such as Nukacrypt are already available online, using only a partial code it can decrypt the in-game nuclear launch codes drastically speeding up the overall process. Keeping with nuke theme, players working together were able to crash a Bethesda server by launching three nukes simultaneously. Fallout 76 is currently such a mess that the game is already discounted by $20 just about everywhere, including from Bethesda themselves. Adding to the problem is the sad fact gameplay is considered quite dull making for a perfect storm where it was only a matter of time before the refund chant would begin which is likely sooner rather than later thanks to Fernando, a user on the Resetera forums, who has supposedly managed to receive a refund from Bethesda directly. Meaning if you bought the game elsewhere you might be out of luck, but if you bought it directly from Bethesda, you might stand a chance at getting your money back. Sad that this game was released probably too soon.

What's this now? Wow How can we backtrack away from this always online everything needs be a multiplayer. Was reading the Techpowerup posts one stated the game is " a barren open world game with no NPCs or storyline and being reliant on other players" and I'm left just shaking my head trying to wrap my brain around that. No I didn't pay much attention to the advertisements/promoting for Fallout 76 with the only thing catching my eye was the shiny gold 76 thinking hey that's the year I was born.

The only thing the Fallout franchise really has going for it is storyline and exploration. FO76 finds many ways to ruin both to absurd levels.

Without mods the franchise is toast because everything is subpar. I don't even know how people can play Elder Scrolls or Fallout without heavy modding.

So much truth to this. When it was announced to be online only with mods and private servers later it instantly made the do not purchase decision for me. I'm darn glad I didn't buy it. I knew as soon as Todd said later it probably wouldn't happen, would be a shadow of modding in previous fallout games, or would be a full on cash grab version of mods. I would like a copy to just explore the map, but not until it is $4.99 or less during a steam sale. Hopefully this slap in the face has woken bethesda up, but I doubt it. Pete Hines is incredibly hard headed so he will probably push this till zenimax tells him to quit or leave. I also hope this has taught them not to ruin a solid franchise that usually makes BILLIONS and doesn't require significant investment to fix because the community picks up Bethesda's slack. I want them to take 76 create a good story line and side quests, then re-release it in a year or two as a normal fallout game after creating NPCs and bug stomping. Keep the multiplayer as a private server co-op like borderlands. I honestly think this is what the majority really wanted when we asked for multiplayer so much. Mods literally save the play ability of fallout 4 for me. I despised taking the time to clean up sanctuary only to still have a bunch of rotten falling down houses that are unremovable. Scrap Everything mod fixed that. Walk into a workshop, tilde and the command to scrap all BAM clean as a whistle. Even build area and polygon limits were stupid low. I have build massive complexes without performance issues except for my ammo factory. I usually play through once without mods and minimal console commands, then have a fun run with all the mods I want to run. I currently have probably 15 mods running on FO4. It looks glorious and is so much more fun the default.

The thing is, the instances have a player cap of 24 over a huge map. If this is supposed to be multi-player and you don't run into people for hours at a time I'm just not understanding that core aspect of the design. When you do an end-game content nuke of an area and farm crafting materials, those people all get into the same location and the instance crashes more often than not. And when you login again after the crash, probably missing the materials you just farmed and the area is reverted to a totally different instance. TL;DR: FO76 is an online game with persistence issues. Nothing is persistent in FO76 and that's bad news to player investing time into activities in this game.

I was the same. When I heard online I knew no modding and it was dead to me. You know the entire building mechanic became just a irrelevant time filler because nothing you build actually matters in any meaningful way. It feels like a stupid mobile game designed to be tedious with zero payout. You could tell it was lazily done too with all of it's restrictions and essentially nothing cool to build until mods started removing all of the restrictions because restrictions make games so much fun... Yeah they'll probably learn nothing and double down in Elder Scrolls. That is how the industry operates now days. Developers are never wrong, it's the entitled consumers. Those guys are the worst and they just better consume or they are (insert politically motivated NPC insult here).

I am not sure I would blame the developer. Probably someone at the publisher office said that they wanted a multiplayer game and told the developers to make it if they wanted money or they would find a Studio they own to make it.

Not sure pointing fingers really matters. The thing that matters is that the game is dysfunctional and frustrating. Doesn't matter if it's the devs or the publisher to blame. Would be nice if someone puts out the dumpster fire though.

They have announced two upcoming patches. It's a start to fix the mess. I'm still slogging through it...I actually like it in a lot of ways (the whole RPG thing...just making my way through the wasteland solo). There's a lot to fix though...hoping they don't kill mods completely (there are a few out for it, I use the inventory one). I'm not investing much into it though as who knows what will happen in a few months. Time will tell if this thing works or not. Hoping it does but we'll see.

they appear to be feeling the heat...... https://www.bluesnews.com...=1&threadid=195458 Fallout 76 Update Plans [Nov 27, 2018, 5:46 pm ET] - Share - Viewing Comments Bethesda offers a lengthy post on Reddit apologizing for a lack of communication while responding to the rampant criticism of Fallout 76 from dissatisfied owners of their RPG prequel. They offer specifics on two updates coming to the game soon, with the first expected one week from today and the second expected one week after that. Beyond this general outline, they also promise full release notes for the first patch later this week. There is now a similar post the Fallout 76 Website that's substantially the same, though the tone is far less conciliatory. Here's the Reddit version: We know you’re frustrated and angry at the state of things right now, whether it’s the issues you’re running into in the game, or the lack of communication about fixes, updates, or news. To be clear, this account is run by us, Bethesda Game Studios community team. Yesterday we posted to let you know that we’re still here gathering your feedback and, more importantly, working to get info from the team we can share. We didn’t want you to think the silence meant nothing was happening. We're sorry and understand this was not the right approach, and we’ll work to make a better bridge between you and the dev team at BGS.
We’re posting an article today that has further information about the upcoming updates that were mentioned a few weeks ago. In addition, we’re aiming to get you the patch notes for these updates quicker and will have them available for December 4th’s update later this week. Probably Thursday or Friday. We’d like to make these articles weekly to make sure you know what the studio is working on as it relates to issues you may be experiencing, quality of life requests you have, or new features they’re excited to share.
Please take a look at the below to see what we’re posting today on Fallout.com, and as always, let us know if you have any thoughts or feedback. This article covers high-level issues being worked on as the patch notes will go at length into what’s being fixed with each update.
December 4, 2018 – Next week’s update will bring an increase to the Stash limit, as well as a variety of performance and stability improvements, balance changes, and multiple bug fixes to the game. We’ll have full patch notes available later this week ahead of Tuesday’s update. Some notable issues being addressed in this update include:
Stash Limit Increased: We know many of you have been asking for an adjustment to the Stash storage limit, and we’re happy to share that we’re increasing it from 400 to 600. While this is somewhat conservative, we plan to increase the storage cap further once we verify that this change will not negatively impact the stability of the game. Boss Loot: Players should correctly receive two to three items after taking down a boss, depending on the creature’s difficulty and level. Cryolator Effects: Players hit with the Cryolator are now Chilled, Frosted, or Frozen depending on how many times they are hit. The duration of movement speed reductions applied by these effects have also been decreased from 2 hours to 30 seconds. Respawning When Overencumbered: We’ve resolved an issue affecting players who die while overencumbered that only allowed them to Respawn at Vault 76. Now, overencumbered players will be able to respawn at the nearest discovered Map Marker. Stuck in Power Armor: We’ve addressed an issue in this patch that could cause players to become stuck inside Power Armor. We’re also aware that there are some additional cases where this can occur, and we are actively investigating them. December 11, 2018 – The next update after December 4 is currently planned for the following week. Like previous patches, it will include a variety of bug fixes, but we’re also planning to bring some more notable changes and features to the game. You can catch a preview of these improvements below, and a full list of changes will be included in the December 11 patch notes.
PC Additions: A Push-to-Talk setting for Voice Chat, 21:9 resolution support, and a Field of View setting are all being implemented on PC with this update. SPECIAL Respec: After level 50, you’ll be able to choose between a new Perk Card, or moving a SPECIAL point you had previously allocated. C.A.M.P. Placement on Login: Your C.A.M.P. will no longer be automatically blueprinted and stored if someone is occupying your location when you log into a server. Instead, you’ll receive a notification that your space is occupied. If you decide to find a new home for your C.A.M.P. on that server, it will be free to do so. However, if you don’t attempt to place down your C.A.M.P., you will be able to switch to a new server where that spot is vacant and your C.A.M.P. will be fully assembled and waiting for you. Bulldozer: This is a new C.A.M.P. feature that will allow you to remove small trees, rocks, and other obstructions so it’s easier to create and place your C.A.M.P. when and where you want it. You can also use the Bulldozer to clear these items from the surrounding area to make your C.A.M.P. feel more like home! Thank you, and please don’t stop letting us know how we can improve our communication and what else needs to be addressed in the game. Once we finalize the patch notes for the December 4 update, we’ll be sure to post them here and all patch notes and weekly updates going forward.

Their respec of 1 stat point or 1 card is a bit of a joke. Stash from 400 to 600? Not enough to properly craft in game. The respawning to closest location while encumbered is already in and is broken because they put respawn locations on top of mob spawn locations. The push to talk is in response to CohhCarnage roasting them on Twtich TV about it. My response is at best not good and at worst outright think they're trolling with those responses.

If it was Obsidian that was behind the development of this game it would of been New Vegas levels of greatness while just like NV sticking closer to the original lore. I've noticed over time how more and more people are calling NV the better Fallout. However I think it's due to the whole lore thing. Obsidian was willing to research and use prior lore without too much deviation whereas Bethesda has a don't care we'll just make it up as we go attitude and it's sad.

I really have no problem with this game so far, other than the typical technical issues that never get fixed in these Fallout games.

The more I progress, the more I like it (outside of the issues I've mentioned before). It's buggy...but I'm going insanely slow and just doing stuff that I know doesn't bug out. We'll see what the patch brings next week and the week after that. I do like the exploration part very much. Not having quest NPC's drove me nuts at first, however, I've actually grown quite used to poking around at my own pace.

There are ideas in the game that have merit. How it actually works is rage inducing though. If it only worked, many things would be fun. The thing I hate worst about the game is that nothing matters the second you log off and then log into a totally different alternate universe every time. That can actually be used as an exploit. If you don't like the loot spawn or power armor state at a location, just login spam 20 times till you get the state of something you want. Same thing with NPC loot merchants. Keep login spamming till you find those crafting plans you need or the armor pieces you need. The lack of continuity and persistence is a problem for me. This game is just one big Groundhog Day movie where you're Bill Murray every time you logout and login except every human in the world is long gone and dumb AI mobs are in place of them. I keep half expecting the main storyline has a punchline to the joke where the very last thing you encounter is a single live human NPC. Some people are explaining away the game as one of those "so bad, it's good" games. I really don't agree with that mindset. It really is disheartening to see people get emotionally attached and compromised by such a dumpster fire game. In a world of early access, this is becoming a real issue. Feel free to like what you like and dislike what you dislike, is a qualitative issue with no right answers. Some answers are more right than others though. Just as frame of reference I've finally made it to Level 50, slowly but surely making it through the storyline content. I have a tolerance threshold anymore where I just have to shut it off for the day after too many things break in this game in one sitting.

Someone just launched a nuke...have to admit I went over to check it out...yeah, bad idea at my level :>). Lots of scorch beasts flying around. It definitely needs an metric ton of work. I dunno, I'm just kinda digging the whole 'fresh out of the vault' thing. I've grouped up with a few folk to do some of the events and whatnot. It was quite fun. I'm fortunate, I haven't had any disconnects at least. I do have the frame rate slowdown though. That's annoying as all get out. And the stash is most definitely annoying. We'll see how it goes. I play for a while, just collect stuff, craft, whatnot. Nothing too involved (been really just exploring and killing off stuff as I go). I'll wait until the first few patches to see if things improve before I start making my way up to the higher level stuff.

I was really looking forward to FO76 but when I heard about how the gameplay was, I lost all interest.
I don't mind about the multiplayer aspect. Though, games in general have become so linear. Until games become infinitely dynamic where the AI makes choices / events where every mission is different and possibly crossed paths of others, I don't really want to experience the same mish mash.

It's not going to be painless going through the fixes. That's why I am in no hurry at all to level and invest too much as far as effort is concerned.
But I can't explain it, really enjoying the lone wolf, rpg part. I don't have the disconnects and crashes (although I do have other issues). They are fixing the stash Tuesday.
I did do a custom .ini so it looks fine (fixed DOF and POV plus my aspect ratio). And I definitely don't have the stuff I've seen on YouTube. That's for sure.
Think it's going to be a niche game. Which is fine by me as I played Warhammer online, Hellgate, and a slew of others that were shunned :)
Hopefully the patches incoming fix a lot of the bad stuff. I've grouped up more and it really is fun wandering the wasteland with other folk.

I figured it would be like this. Still think they're in it for the long haul and will try to salvage what they can...no pun intended.

Going 400 to 600 stash is sort of a joke tho. Only real answer is a second account as a stash mule.

So the people that bought the bauble edition of the game didn't even get what was advertised, a canvas bag. Instead they received a much cheaper nylon bag and weren't notified of the change. Some places still advertise the canvas bag. The best part about this is Bethesda did make a Fallout canvas bag........for their paid shills that advertise the game online. https://gamerant.com/fallout-76-canvas-bags-given-influencers/

Yea the whole canvas bag fiasco is not helping them at all. It's quite sad how 2018 quickly became the crappiest year for the video game industry capped off by Bethesda's mishandling of Fallout 76 and now Starbreeze trying to avoid bankruptcy due to their The Walking Dead game bombing hard.
