Best in slot CPU for SR-2?

I have seen a lot of people recommending the Xeon X5650, X5660 or X5675 but a lot are avoiding the X5690 which seems to naturally be the best in slot.
 
Is it because of thermal issues? Also is it necessary to have a matched pair of processors? I can get a matched pair of X5690s for much cheaper than the X5675

Main Rig
Intel Xeon W3690, EVGA CLC280, 32GB G Skill Trident X 2133mhz/2400mhz, EVGA X58 Classified (E770), 780 Ti K|NGP|N Edition (2-way SLI), Asus ROG Thor, Noctis 450 ROG edition

    People may avoid the x5690 because of the higher price, and it does not overclock any better than the other CPUs.
    You will have a lower multiplier, but there is a limit as to how high you can go overall and a x5675 may very well get you there.
    And no the CPUs do not have to be matched. I ran E5620 with an E5645 together and have ran a x5650 with a x5660 in other dual socket 1366 boards and they booted and ran fine.

    5690 was 1366 sockets high end.
    So go for it.
