I call BS.  There's no competitive advantage to Nvidia holding stock until after Big Navi releases.  On the contrary, I think they rushed to market to sell as much before Big Navi is anounced.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I keep the page open (and smash that F5 button!... ahem...) when the bots just swoop in and check out quicker than I can get my cart to load. Putting most of my eggs in the EVGA queue basket. Hopefully there will actually be a substantial stock influx within the next couple of weeks.

After seeing my brothers 3090 fe arrive yesterday. I got a nowinstock alert and started drooling like Pavlov's dog and tried to get a 3090fe for myself. I noticed bestbuy changed the way the "add to cart" works. It was a bit confusing this time around. I wasn't sure if i was supposed to wait after clicking add to cart and be put into a queue or keep refreshing the page and hit add to cart. In any event i sat there waiting and it went to sold out lol. I really wish the ftw hydrocopper was available to queue up for. I'd queue and wait now that I've got my bros 1080 until then.

I think his argument is that Nvidia is creating a false shortage in order to push demand through the roof.  If that's true, then success.  They still have no reason to wait for the Big Navi announcement.  If Big Navi looks competitive, Nvidia risks losing a lot of the demand they generated because not only will there be a competition, but people will inclined not to go with Nvidia due to their botched release.  Either way, it would be a dumb move, and I don't think Nvidia is dumb when it comes to marketing and distribution.

Funny how these "shortages" pretty much happen with all Nvidia launches. Sure, this one is worse, but this game of theirs always takes place.

No, Nvidia is the worst. I've been playing their games for many years now.

At least for the 3080 the situation was OK. there were cards available up to 5-6 mins of drop. I had one in my cart, but did not buy as it was not the model I wanted.

Um, that's not true at all. I got one last Friday during they're drop (10/9/2020). In fact, many people did. It was all over reddit last weekend. I received my new card Tuesday. Food for thought.

Sure there is.  Look at all the panic and consternation this whole launch has caused.  Timing all the stock to be available the instant that AMD announces their offerings will cause a flurry of panic-buying for all the folks frustrated they have not been able to but a card.  Those folks will buy the instant they can, even if AMD's GPU is better on performance or price.  FOMO will take over, Nvidia will sell a ton of cards *and* suck all the wind out of AMD's sails for their launch at the same time.  Double win.

Anyway, we'll know soon.  If suddenly Nvidia cards get relatively easy to buy right around the 28th you'll know Moore's Law is Dead was right and Jensen is just a d*ck.

technically the 3090 cards should be easier to get no matter if the rumor is true or not. You won't be able to tell. Last time around I got a 2080ti nov 13th and I'm pretty sure a lot of others did too but they still would sell out until December+. My brother snagged a 3090fe this week already and using distill.io for the notification. I watched it stay in stock for a good 5-10+ minutes before it sold out. The 3080 sold really fast.

This time around, demand is higher for the 3080 than 3090. So if the 3080's stay in stock I would say the rumor has some weight to it but I highly doubt jensen is holding stock back. Everything nvidia has done states the contrary.

Allowing only bestbuy to release the FE card indicates there is a real issue with bots and enormous traffic. Bestbuy has had 2 days this week with stock that I could tell. That would indicate we should start seeing a steady flow of cards like they have already said would happen.

It seems to me Nvidia's lack of preorders is another indication they didn't have stock. You can't preorder something they don't have an eta to release. It's clear that they wouldn't be able to commit orders before AMD released their new cards and is the reason why they rushed to release the card before them. Another reason why all these board manufacturers had no time with the cards I would ASSume on top of not wanting leaks.

nah man MLD has been laughably wrong about most of his 3000 series predictions, I wouldn't count on this being true.
