I played BFV over the weekend, and I have to say, I'm quite impressed. I did not like the beta and felt it was too clunky and extremely buggy (that's why it's called a beta). The full release feels like a totally different game. The game runs smooth, gunplay feels great, and the teams and gameplay feel really balanced. Most matches of CQ and Grand Ops that I played were really hard fought and close. Squads seem to be sticking together and most are playing their roles as they should.

I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Thoughts from anyone else?

I appreciate you taking the time to tell me how I really feel about the game. Not sure I could've formulated an opinion without you.

Don't understand why everyone has to come on here and act like because someone enjoys a game that they don't. Totally blows my mind...

What about RTX on? Is it available yet?
Anyone playing BF5 with 20xx series? I'll probably get BF5 on BF.

I've always had confidence in the BF series. They seemed to figure out their lane and they've been digging in ever since. Haven't played consistently since BF3 but I think they'll have a hard time missing if they continue to stick to the formula that made the franchise a great one.

All the big game publishers have moved to designing First Person Shooters for the console. They no longer make the best game possible for each platform. Over the years they slowly killed off the best part about PC gaming, being able to find a community server you liked to call it home. That helped to keep the playerbase high on the PC.

    BF3
    Restrict server files
    surcharge fee per player slot
Reduced the number of Ranked partners (Game Server Providers that could offer Ranked servers)
    BF4
    Same restricted server files
Increased surcharge fee per player slot
Reduced the number of Ranked Partners again
Design maps where a Mobile AA just out side the main base can cover over 50% of the map
    BF1
PC version using the same dedicated servers the consoles use.
Very limited server controls with no rcon access
    No more Ranked Partners

I stopped buying Battlefield titles after BF4, due to EA showing they do not care about PC gamers.

The crying shame is there really is no suitable replacement. This is an industry-wide problem. Clearly PC gamers are not strong enough to carry the load and corporate decisions were made.  Used to be there was a clear reason to upgrade our rigs and that was mostly the next great gaming title. I fear that is no longer the case now the only good reason is security releated. Its sad to think the vast majority of new PC gamers will never know what they are missing.

I guess I'm in the minority. Truthfully, I don't dive deep into all of the technical aspects and inner workings of the game as you all. I used to be a console/PC guy, but recently have migrated to PC only. I've enjoyed the BF series since BF2, and have enjoyed playing each title since then. For me, as long as I'm having fun playing, I consider the game a success. I know that's very simple in nature, but that's just me and how I view my gaming experience.

I'm sorry for raining on your parade I genuinely am. Just a bunch of old-time gamers around here, I guess, who don't like letting go of what made PC gaming great. The battlefield series was one of the best of them until after BF4. If you are enjoying it, that's all that counts, and I tuned in to this thread to get your perspective. I should have respected it, so again accept my apologies. I guess I'm just winning about what I miss. I should have remembered what my mother always said to me, "If you don't have anything good to say, say nothing at all." For the record, I haven't played console games since Atari 2600 if that helps with perspective. Even my grandson who I have a PS4 here for his pleasure now prefers PC gaming on a keyboard, so I get it. His favorite is BF3 single player I don't let him play multiplayer, yet, he is not old enough to be chatting. The console has never been all that but has given many gamer hours of fun. Trust me when I say it can be a whole lot better.

I agree with everything posted here.

I long for the days of real dedicated servers. That said I'm getting BF5 for free and you bet I'll be playing it and having fun. Looking forward to messing with RTX, at least some innovation is happening for PC.

No problem at all! I like having these discussions because it opens my eyes to what you all see from your gaming experiences over the years. For the longest time, my hobby was sim-racing. Whether it be NR2003, iRacing, etc. That was the majority of my "PC gaming." BF2 was the first FPS that I ever touched on PC, and I was hooked after that. Still though, my main fix for FPS was consoles because that's what my friends typically played. I built my first PC in 2011, and that's when my gaming preferences slowly started to change over to where I am now, PC only. I'm now seeing my friends, as they've gotten older, they're starting to migrate towards PC. I have a cousin who says that if he had access to decent internet, he'd sell his Xbox and go PC only.

Again, no issues with your original post. Glad we were able to turn this topic into a good discussion.

I actually like what little I played today but I really enjoyed the Beta.  RTX on 2080TI 1440P set it to medium and the game runs smooth as silk.    The ultra setting that it defaulted to was nuts.  I do know that a game like this which is really a multiplayer is designed to last years.  So as new hardware comes out we get to crank the settings higher.  I just wished DICE would of use RTX instruction set instead of the DXR.  But since AMD is supposed to have Ray Tracing in the next year I guess that is why the did it.

I'm glad you like it but have a question for you...is this game pay to play?  What I mean is someone told me you have to pay an extra $10 a month on top of the $60 game price?  Is there any truth to this?  I'm not seeing this when I searched online and I'm thinking my source might be wrong.

It's not a subscription based game unless they're talking about Origin's subscription model which allows you to play most of their games from their library.

It would be suicide for battlefield franchise to charge a monthly subscription to play it online.

I'm glad I could give you some material to allow you to bash me and my opinion to make you feel better about yourself. Have you even played the game? Judging by your posts, I'd say no. That's like me having complaints about what's wrong with my favorite sports team, and having not watched any games. Do you realize how stupid that sounds? That's the same thing you're doing here. I simply wanted a civil, adult conversation about the game from folks who have played. I don't know if you know this or not, but people can have differing opinions and still have discussions like adults, instead of spouting off the same old smart-ass condescending banter that you seem to do on a daily basis.

I mentioned earlier, I base my feelings about a game if I'm having fun or not. I don't dive deep into the intricate details. I log on, I play, and if I have fun, then it's good enough for me. I realize you have a hard-on for bashing EA, but neither myself, or anyone else on this board needs you to tell us how we should feel about a game or spend our money. Worry about yourself and what you like and dislike.

    You're in the honeymoon phase.

I appreciate you taking the time to tell me how I really feel about the game. Not sure I could've formulated an opinion without you.

You're my hero. You come into public forums praising bad games and then stand by it. If only we had more of you in vidya we'd definitely get the best games.

Nvm fearpoint he is so in Love with EA\DICE that he just exudes it out of every pore of his being

I cannot get BFV to load and play. I am trying a different SSD in the near future, but for now, when I load into the game, my entire pc blue screens instantly. I started the single player and really want to play through it.

Game sucks.  The war stories, however, are quite good.  Does anyone know how to turn on ray tracing?

I bought BF1 and all of it's DLC at launch. Then I barely played it because I am slowly lost interest. I really really want to buy BF5, mostly because I am living in my past. I just can't seem to pull the trigger. It is a shame that they have left PC in the dust. I spent $100 on BF1 and hardly played it, however, spent $40 on Overwatch and have played it to death and continue. They keep changing the game, adding more maps and don't even charge me more money. I kinda like that.
I would not bash you because you like it though. If everyone liked the same thing we would all dress the same, drive the same and look the same.
    Enjoy.
