Love me some BF2 back in the day!
Then things got more and more.....complicated it seems. More buttons to push, more commands. I dunno.....I grew up on BF42 and it was awesome!  Then BF2 had the POE custom map packs that gamers made.
Oh yeah, cant forget the ability to actually ADMIN a server......someone being an assclown? Give 'em the boot. Simple and effective
I haven't played BFV in over 6 months. I guess I'm getting older and slower lol

Hopefully it will further push RTX like the first did as well as a decent use of DLSS 2.1

I hope it's as much fun as BFBC2 was back in the day.
BFBC2 is still the best instance of Battlefield in my book.
But I'm looking forward to BF6.

5 Was my first foray into Battlefield, never bothered with it before, but with it included on Gamepass thought it was worth a shot. Enjoying it so far, but I'm only on the story playthrough at the the mo, not tried the multiplayer yet.

Prepare to be frustrated lol.  I gave up on BFV a few months ago.  The cheating and the toxic chat did it for me :(

I haven't gotten that 'wow this is really next gen' feeling in a while tbh. Advances seem more incremental now

Seems this is true. Something that may affect progress is the unavailability of high-end gpu's for the mass market. Developers aren't going to try to push hard on the graphics front when the majority of their potential player base still has a 1060. This incremental improvement is probably going to slow even further with the crypto bs.

While this is plausible, we could see some bigger steps because of the new console generation. In my opinion we may have hit some walls on the graphics side. I think we will have to wait untill raytracing has become totally mainstream and affordable, so developers can completely ditch rasterization and thus save a lot of time and effort, while spending that time to push the boundaries further.

Personally I did get a bit of a wow-effect when I played Control on max settings with RTX for the first time, other then that I think the next few years we will see big improvements with load times and other creative ways to use SSD storage effectively. I think the new Ratchet & Clank on the PS5 knocked it out of the park and really did give me a moment to stop and think about new possibilities in next gen games :)

Also on topic: I would love a great new Battlefield game in a modern setting. I'm about done with the WW1/2 setting for a while, was fun (again) while it lasted. I remember seeing the awesome 3 part trailer for BF3 for the first time. I hate on EA all the time but that marketing campaign was fire, the hype was insane back then. AND they delivered imo!

I loved Battlefield 2 and 2142. Also Bad Company. I'm curious how Battlefield 6 will turn out.

One thing that would be a BIG improvement is bringing back the private servers. And also agree with the anti-cheat comment. Here's hoping it is finally a good game to get more people to play. The last couple have been.... not so good. Bad company needs to come back in it's original form.

The way they development has been going the last few month, we can probably prepare for a pretty buggy launch, if they are really going to release the game this year.

Haven't played BF in a while but this one I might actually be interested in because of the new consoles, also I heard they will have quite huge servers (128?).

Loved BF4. Had BF5 on PS4 and it was a good break from the CODs at the time. Didn't waste my time with 1. This has actually got me excited

BF1 was refreshing, BFV was a return toe World War II but it did not grab me. I struggled to finish BF1 campaign, the tank campaign (first) was great, but the BFV I had no desire for it.

Being one that played all the Battlefields, at least the single player campaigns, I didn't felt compeletd to play anything more than 1 or 2 BFV missions and some BETA matches.

Seems like they're planning to release on old-gen consoles as well. Probably because of the shortages of new-gen. Hopefully they don't compromise too much on the PC version.

Build in Progress:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x
GPU: RTX3080 or 3080ti  <----
Motherboard: Aorus Elite x570
RAM: 2x16GB (32GB) G.Skill Trident Z
PSU: NZXT C850 Gold
AIO: NZXT Kraken Z73 360mm
SSD: WD Black 1TB

It'd be neat to have my attention back on Battlefield. I couldn't keep with it after Battlefield 1.

Hopefully we see more WW1 in the series since it was a nice change.

Agreed, too many of these war FPS' dig from the WWII trench.  I was delighted to see WWI since it usually isn't covered.  I also like BF4's story but fat chance having something like that again.

Battlefield 1 was fun and I think Battlefield V was a bit underrated.. sure, it had its problems and the devs made a lot of questionable choices (like all the TTK changes or developing new additional modes that never came out) but all in all it was a fun game, just not the best.

Hopefully we can get back to the best with the new Battlefield (6?), I'm getting really tired of Call of Duty.
And I hope next-gen/PC gets an enhanced version, just like with Battlefield 4.

Rumors claim it will be f2p and a different dev team will work on it. But hey, rumors.

Unpopular opinion: I thought Firestorm wasn't so bad, it could be great fun. Problem is, well... they released it too late, it was behind the "paywall" of BFV and in the end they just abandoned it. It was just doomed to fail.

Question is, would EA want to have another product compete with their flagship BR (Apex)..

that is actually a good point. ive played apex maybe 3 times and its cool but i feel like id have to put more time into it to actually get used to it. Im down for more of a modern battlefield BR without the crazy flying and jumping apex has.

Yeah if they do it correctly I'd much rather play a battlefield BR as well
