I bought a CyberPower CP1350AVRLCD UPS back in July when I figured out that my old 350w ups wasn't going to cut it anymore. The power went out this morning and I guess it was about 60 seconds before I got from the kitchen to the bedroom where the computer was.  The battery was already down to 20% capacity. This is an 815w ups and my rig is pulling about half that. Is it possible that I need to replace the battery in it already? I thought the battery indicator might not be accurate under load, but that would pretty much make it useless.

Edit: power just came back on and the battery is now showing 96%. Maybe it is an indication problem.

I put in a support ticket.  We'll see what they say.

I have several of their UPS, some are the much larger units 1350W /1500W

I've never had to deal with the Warranty / Customer Service so I am curious how smooth this goes and if it gets resolved quickly

529w recommended.  It's pulling 360w according to the UPS with 6 cores crunching BOINC and the GPU running GPUGrid.  I leave one core for the GPU and one for me surfing and such.  No hyperthreading on the ol bulldozer.

Anyone run their PowerPanel software?  I never have seen the need, but hooked up the USB and installed the software just to see what it had.  It had a self diagnostic and passed that no problem.  It said I should have about 10 minutes of run time.

I have it installed. It gives some useful information, although I don't need to look at it much. It will shut down my computer for me 5 minutes after a power outage though. If I'm already here I can do it myself.  :)

Rather than guessing whether the battery meter on the front is accurate, why don't you unplug the UPS, use your computer like normal, let the UPS battery run flat, and see how many minutes it runs. Not properly shutting down your computer one time is not likely going to cause any problems. It seems like you will have your answer fast instead of these 3 days of guesswork.

This is the response I got from the ticket.  It self tests fine, so I'm going to call it good.

    Hi Ian,

Thank you for contacting CyberPower Tech Support.

Whats happening here is because your PC was pulling that much wattage from the battery, the unit saw its battery at 20%. From my understanding, the battery percentage indicator goes by how much time it has left to run on and not the actual battery level. Your unit is estimated to run between 20-15 minutes with a load in between 400 and 300 watts whereas with a 50 watt load, the estimated time is up to 172 minutes.

In summary, this is just an issue with how the unit reads the level but it sounds like your unit is running just fine. If you have our PowerPanel Software installed, there are self tests you can run to look at the run times and if it falls out of the estimated ranges significantly, we can get things sorted through the warranty.

Hope this clears things up a little. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Thank you,
