education may be expensive but wait until you get the bill for ignorance

Back from the dead... Now the back from the dead build thread! Starts Pg 4 2019/09/08 15:02:18 (permalink)
This thread is now to be called the “Back From the Dead Build Thread”

Here’s what I’m thinking max budget of $800 micro center is 2.7 hours away and I have a 40MPG civic I can drive there.

I was thinking the following:
Ryzen 5 2600X?
AsRock Fatality X370 AM4
16GB patriot viper 3 ddr4
Whatever GPU I get recommended to me
Some sort of 650W PSU
250GB Samsung EVO SSD for programs, booting, the usual
1tb Mechanical for video footage
1 tb mechanical for programs and some games
I was gonna house this the ITX Phanteks enthoo evolv or the NZXT 210 whichever is smaller but easier to work in
Corsair Closed loop cooler or might go custom loop don’t know yet

The total without GPU is $596 I know the drill and I don’t need an OS or accessories. I would like to replace my Cooler Master CM Storm Mechical board without the number pad tho.

Microcenter changes the game on budgets. The one next to me has a pretty vast selection of returned items to choose from. If you are willing to take that route, you can usually haggle with items that have not been price adjusted for around 30 days. Depends on the mood the manager is in... I've helped a few friends get some pretty nice deals. You are may or may not be considering them for specific parts, so it's worth asking for a deal.

I take it you are going for 1080p performance, are you looking for 144Hz or a high refresh rate?

You are probably looking at a GTX 1060 with a $200 video card budget. However, I would look at the return section. I've seen some Vega 56 cards go for $225, which is worth the little bit extra.

Main PC | Secondary PC
Intel i9 10900K | Intel i7 9700K

MSI MEG Z490 ACE | Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Master
ASUS TUF RTX 3090 | NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super
32GB G.Skill Trident Z Royal 4000MHz CL18 | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 4266MHz CL17
SuperFlower Platinum SE 1200w | Seasonic X-1250
Samsung EVO 970 1TB and Crucial P5 1TB | Intel 760p 1TB and Crucial MX100 512GB
Cougar Vortex CF-V12HPB x9 | Cougar Vortex CF-V12SPB-RGB x5

144hz refresh rate for no reason other than I have the monitor already at 1080p but don’t need to max anything out. I’ll be playing older titles and mostly editing video.
