New Updates for X299 Motherboards today. Basically, just a security update for Intel ME: BIOS 1.24 (E299 Dark) / 1.24 (E297 FTW K) / 1.17 (E296 Micro ATX 2) /1.25 (E295 Micro) Updates
- Update ME FW 11.12.80.1734v5 for Intel security vulnerability
Windows Installation- Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
151-SX-E299-KR - EVGA X299 Dark - v1.24 142-SX-E297-KR - EVGA X299 FTW K - v1.24 121-SX-E296-KR - EVGA X299 Micro ATX 2 - v1.17 131-SX-E295-KR - EVGA X299 Micro ATX - v1.25- First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
- From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
- Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update. Thanks!

Updated X299 FTW K from within Windows. Worked fine, system rebooted a couple of times, and posted fine. Profiles and setting were erased, but otherwise no issues so far. Though fan configuration is still buggy (fans run at 100% despite settings).

People might want to wait on this bios. After updating this bios and then reinstalling windows (<-- key part, as part of a uefi install, windows and ME exchange keys.) Note, it worked fine after the bios update. It was the windows clean install the "broke" my system. The mobo didn't POST after the first reboot of the windows install. I got POST code 31. no beep. Did the dance on swaping, unplug'n, cmos reset etc.. nothing fixed it. Sadly, i never flashed the other bios slots on the board. The other ones there are all pre-10xxx skylake-x :( First, remember, you have mutli bios chips on the mobo. Go flash them :) #3 on dark is the default and removable one. After you know you have a good bios on the system (maybe not the most recent one) ... someone want to try a new install of windows 10? 20H2 just came out :) It would be nice to catch the problem so other don't bump into the issue. who knows, maybe my system just farted and broke the bios :) note, i was able to get working again by flashing the bios on my other x299 dark mobo. But oddly, only when i used 1.24 (which is the new one.) Once back in i flash the other two bios slots with 1.23 and am using that one till someone else test if there is a ME issue when installing a clean windows 10.

That's a big disappointment. I hate the VRM fan so much...

It's not really a disappointment, it's more of an inconvenience, because after a couple of reboots the fans start behaving according to settings, but if you clear CMOS and readjust fan settings again it will take a while before the fans adjust.

I've got my X299 FTW worked out where I can power down when the on screen code is A0, wait 12 seconds, then power back up and it takes my 20% setting for the VRM fan. I've never had it pick up my settings if I just reboot. And I'm disappointed because I've reported this problem over 6 months ago and it seems this update is only a ME security fix. Hopefully it's still in the works since there are also other reported issues with my board and the X299 Dark...

@EVGATech_LeeM Does this update incorporate changes that are in beta BIOS I have (to number of drives that can show under NVMe info) or that would be lost if I update?

Is there a BIOS guide for the X299 FTW-K MB? I found 150-HE-E997 for X99, which might be similar.

WARNING: Issues after flashing to V1.24 BIOS In the absence of EVGA’s / @EVGATech_LeeM answer I’ve today went and flashed BIOS on my X299 Dark as I figured EVGA had 5 months to include it so it is likely in. That was a HUGE mistake! Not only it doesn’t contain fix for issue I’ve reported approximately 6 months before its release and EVGA had fix for for at least 5 months but I’ve also been bitten by two issues after installing it (for details see here https://forums.evga.com/W...4-BIOS-m3195000.aspx). In the end I had to go to previous copy, fix Windows issues this has triggered, lots of my time has been wasted and I am: 1. Disappointed and dismayed that EVGA / their tech @EVGATech_LeeM can’t dignify customer for two months with quick answer on simple question in their official BIOS release thread. If they did me wasting time and effort would’ve been avoided. 2. Shocked and frustrated that fix EVGA had code for for over 5 months somehow still didn’t get included into next BIOS release. That is effectively blocking me from getting ME security patch included in it. 3. Frustrated that new BIOS release triggered another set of issue, to the point of wondering is EVGA capable of releasing BIOS that does -NOT- result in issues and should I ever again trust EVGA products (my issue with video card’s fans still remains open many months later and my status inquiries and e-mails go unanswered).

Hi Zoran, I apologize for not seeing your question earlier. I don't always have time to review the forums, so I rely on notifications, which is imperfect. In the future, please PM me directly if you have an urgent question of that nature. It doesn't help you now, I know, but maybe we can keep things running smoother in the future. As I noted in your other thread, I am looking into the NVMe list issue.

Hi @EVGATech_LeeM , I didn’t PM you directly because it is EVGA’s official policy not to DM techs directly, and that direct DMs won’t be replied to, because community won’t benefit if knowledge is not publicly shared. Now that you’ve extended the invite I will accept it. I hope you won’t mind if I use that offer in effort to get replies I am still waiting on for other issues (those communications were with different EVGA tech, not you). I will not comment should you personally be reviewing forums on at least official threads you are starter of, especially if you are aware notifications can’t be counted on, but IMHO someone from EVGA should. Actually, please allow me to comment on often repeated phrase that “EVGA doesn’t monitor its community forums for questions, if you need something / think something could be improved / should be changed open a ticket / submit improvement request”. IMHO any company that is revolving around satisfaction of its customer base -proactively- monitors what their customers are saying / needing, -especially- when it is in their own community forum, and ideally what is said should be finding its way into product and assistance without customer having to jump through the paperwork hoop. Otherwise one can be left with impression revolving around customer is more of a lip service. I hope you won’t mind forwarding my comments (meant as constructive improvement suggestion) to those in charge of making things happen, please. Also, now that we are finally communicating, could you please advise is fix to BIOS NVME Info not showing more than 4 drives included in just released V 1.25 or it is still missing? Zoran
