This is a nice surprise, wasn't aware that the 3rd Gen HEDT CPU's would work on the X299 :o

If i need this to be a new thread please make it so.

Just did the bios update, now running into issues with getting it to load any OS. Still troubleshooting, But as of right now it is not booting to existing windows install / or windows install media ( Flash Drive). Currently trying to get a Linux Live disc to see if that boots. Have attempted the other 2 bios's loaded on the board and the same thing is happening. One other thing to note, have stress tested the CPU after doing a defaults, the AVX2 test sends the machine into a black screen / locks up machine.

Machine was functioning correctly before the flash was done.

    Update:

Looks like the processor has given up the ghost. :(  It had been running fine - Delidded at 4.7 for 4 cores and the rest at 4.3. Not really after all the performance the chip should have offered.  I did attempt to run the New OC Robot (Per Core) and it showed that with the temp limit set at 75c ( I put that in) about 4 of the cores could hit 5.0GHZ at 1.4v to 1.42v, did not try to boot that as the machine was never stable at 5.0GHZ. I went to my last known good configuration, machine booted up and was sitting in windows, then keeled over. :(

    Update 2:

I am now starting to lean towards it not being the processor now. Just for a test I removed the processor from the board, and I am not even getting post codes now. Looks like an RMA? Going to pull it out of my system and go over it fully. Going to try to do so with out having to drain the loops. :O

Unfortunately the PerCore Mode for the EVGA X299 Dark is bugged.

I own a 9820x and when i enable PerCore it will add about 90mV VC on the 9th core under load, no matter what i set as override VC target VC + adaptive Offset.

Tried everything to get rid off this behaviour, cmos reset etc. pp. does not help.

    Edit:

continued testing - with core ratio of 41 or less the vc bug in PerCore Mode does not occur, and with Skylake-X 7820x it does not occur at all.

EVGA E-leet needs a PerCore setting too, as of now it is more or less useless when you want to use PerCore.

I have been waiting for PerCore VC Mode since competitors like the ASRock OC Formula and the Asus Apex have this as well.

You shouldn't normally get POST codes with the CPU removed.  The only way you would is if you have a MB that supports flashing without a CPU and you run the flash process.

I assume that you have manually reset CMOS, correct?  BIOS jumper either near the power button or on the rear of the board?

Checked with the team.  Here's what they suggest:

    1. Please check SATA mode is correct (RAID or AHCI)
    2. Please check boot mode is correct (UEFI or LEGACY)
    3. Did you previously have any security feature(s) set up for OS?
    4. Can you default mode boot into OS with latest or previous version now?  Did you try using an older BIOS or switch to one of the other BIOS chips on the board?
    5. If the SATA mode and boot mode are correct and there was no security mode set up, then you're down to either reinstalling the OS or RMA'ing the board.

Checked with the team.  They cannot reproduce the +90mV Vcore issue on their side.  How are you checking the Vcore to see that information?  They also would like to know why you think the Vcore is +90mV.

Regarding ELEET, they'll look to see if we are able to implement this feature given their current schedule.

I have pressed the reset CMOS button on the board multiple times. I have started the RMA process already. When the processor is in the MB it will give a quick blip of power then shut right back off.  Will see if I can get a video for reference. I have tested every other component of my system except for the processor and the MB.

The MB team saw your video and agree that an RMA is the right course of action here.

Sorry everyone, I seem to have left out the addition of 32GB DIMM support in the release notes above.  Updated.

@EVGA does this fix the BIOS bug mentioned here? I am going to assume not since there is no mention of a microcode update in the release notes. https://forums.evga.com/X299-Dark-BIOS-v118-Possible-BugIssue-m2975001.aspx

    Thanks!

    Update 9/27:
Above issue is still occurring on X299 Dark, if AVX-512 is something that you use often stick with BIOS v1.17. As a side note to anyone reading this... this is not an issue caused by EVGA Intel broke the microcode for X299 and AVX-512 EVGA is/has been waiting for Intel to release an update.

    Hi jason,

I asked our MB team, and while it's still not fixed, they did confirm that Intel is working on the issue.

I would advise against setting the TJMax value in the BIOS to anything higher than what Intel Specification states, otherwise you risk damaging the CPU. Also worth noting that adjustments to the TJMax value in the BIOS will impact reported CPU temperatures within the BIOS and Software, it can artificially increase\decrease said temperatures.

it does not matter if it is a stand, in iddle and effect on temperature, OC is the same but it is hot without stress in normal work. And the setting is still 90 and so I have all the time, in realbench or similar programs I do not have more than 80 degrees after 2 hours, in 52/55 games.

You should have never trust Robo or Automatic!! always use manual input then test.

Do these updates make boards that support Kaby Lake X lose support?

Not at all.  The OC Robot feature never supported Kaby Lake-X.  Kaby Lake-X CPUs still have full support on the Micro, FTW K, and DARK.  The Micro 2 has only supported Skylake-X since launch.

Thank you for the update and notes!

Can you please specify point: "Supports next-gen processors" ? Can you confirm it means this bios update supports the upcoming Cascade-X CPUs such as the i9-10980xe?

Given that the BIOS updates were posted prior to Intel's announcement, the most we can (or should) say is "next-gen processors".

However, we've also updated the CPU compatibility list, published an entire article noting support for the upcoming Cascade Lake-X processors, updated our spec sheets, updated the specs and marketing content on the product pages for each board, so I think we've covered that ground:
