updated my bios to 1.17 last night. Any Cold boot or reboot where bios has to post the system has to reboot itself 3 times before it will successfully post.

updated my bios to 1.17 last night. Any Cold boot or reboot where bios has to post the system has to reboot itself 3 times before it will successfully post.

This is Normal after a Bios Update and or if you Push the Small Red Button or Pull the CMOS Battery.

But once this has completed you should not have to go through the 3 restarts.
If this is the Case then you need to replace the CMOS Battery.
So if your Computer from a Cold Boot repeats this 3 Restart Process your CMOS Batter is Dead.

So far I am not seeing any issue going from 1.09 to 1.17.
Using the Same Settings used under 1.09 under 1.17 with no issues noted settings Each Settings and not from a File.
You can only Save the Bios Setting of the Same Bios Version.
But after updating one Bios and saving a File I then updated one of the other Bios I did upload the File and it work fine.
As normal after updating the Bios as before it restarts 3 Times and once this has completed I setup my standard OC settings and is running very well now.

Are there patch notes for this BIOS update? I've been running a 9800x in my X299 Dark since December without any issues.

1.17 is a Great Bios but it is your choice whether or not to update it.
You do have 3 Bios to test with.

I saw that 1.17 fixed a PCIe issue. Thanks bcavnaugh.

Does anyone have any specific details on what issue that was? I'm in the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" camp. So far I've not had any issues with my 9800X on the X299 Dark.

So unless there's something compelling (security flaw or the like), I'll prolly just keep 1.14

    See this thread - https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2925837

Part of this bios ("Fixes PCIe issues with Intel i7-9800X CPUs*") addresses the issue uncovered in that linked thread. The other part you would have too google what Intel PTT is and decide if it relates to your uses

If you were to try and utilize some of the PCIe slots on your board and have not updated the Bios to at least this version you will find there is a problem

Upgraded my X299 FTW-K from 1.15 (factory) to 1.18.  Seems I can no longer select an XMP profile from BIOS (CMOS error)… using G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-4000 16GB x 4 (64GB).

    Specs: EMBRYON V
    CPU 1 Intel 9980 XE 18 Core 3.GHz @ 4.50GHz
    Motherboard 1 EVGA x299 FTW K LGA 2066
    PSU 1 EVGA 1200W P2
GPU 1 EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC 11GB
    Audio 1 EVGA Audio NU
    Memory 6 G.Skill Trident Z DDR-4000 16GB (64GB total)
    Cooling 2 Corsair Hydro H150i
    SSD 1 Samsung 970 Pro M.2 1TB
    SSD 1 Samsung 970 Pro M.2 1TB
    SSD 1 Intel Optane 905p PCIe 1TB
    Case 1 Lian-Li PC-011 Dynamic Razer Edition
    Cooling 1 Corsair H150i + 6x HD120 RGB fans

Oh, and yes, I will be adding this to Mods Rigs and etc. ;)

Just finish my X299 Dark build with BIOS 1.17, memory is corsair dominator platinum 3733 C17, but X.M.P reading shows and runs at 3600MHz in BIOS, not 3733MHz, clear CMOS does not solve the problem.

Confirmed the burned value in SPD is 3733MHz via CPU-Z, is this a bug?

Is Corsair calling for a bumped FSB to attain that?
You could set XMP then manually bump the drop down to the desired setting, and scroll down to set for memory retraining, reboot

What were the exact PCIE issues fixed with x299? I also own a 9800X and curious to what was wrong with it before the patch.

    Lots of thing :>
    A. Decrease minimum CPU Vcore temp from 2.0 V to 1.5 V
    B. OC Robots is hit and miss so it needs improvement.
    C. Add in Bios Fan setting or Fan configuration like Asu*
    D.ADD or fix M2 Raid 0
    E. Etc.

I am on 1.19 on my FTW K MB
1.17 on my Dark, what will 1.18 on the Dark give us?

    Lots of thing :>
    A. Decrease minimum CPU Vcore temp from 2.0 V to 1.5 V
    B. OC Robots is hit and miss so it needs improvement.
    C. Add in Bios Fan setting or Fan configuration like Asu*
    D.ADD or fix M2 Raid 0
    E. Etc.

What you are saying that is Your Wish List for an 1.8 bios then
