BIOS 1.02 Updates

  • Improved compatibility with PCI-E devices
  • Several smaller bug fixes

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         134-KS-E279-KR - EVGA Z270 Classified-K
         132-KS-E277-KR - EVGA Z270 FTW-K
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

This is my first MB with a three position BIOS switch.

One run each position ? any switch position ?

Don't we have 3 chips on the board with one being the removable BIOS chip or is all the BIOS in one chip

Only done the GTX video cards before where we had a 2 position switch with a BIOS for each position
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
WOW - being able to re-program a chip without a UV light :-)

The new BIOS did fix 2 or the 3 items I was going to ask about:

    1. BIOS switch position ONE  boots faster and no longer hold with a 01 for 20 sec : the other positions did not do the 20 sec hold

    2. Switch position one (all the way up) never had a Intel ME firmware - the other positions had it so I was able to load ME in MB drivers and later load and run E-LEET
only with 2 and 3 switch ( seems to me some with the z170 MB some time ago had a problem like that ?)

    Still have this small problem:

3 . I still see my Crucial SATA M.2 card in the  M.2 (2) bottom grayed out in the SATA list port 2  and not able to disable hot plug (so it shows up in windows eject media)
They are gray because having a card in the bottom M.2 slot disables SATA 2 and 3 but this is a SATA M.2
I do have a  Intel M.2 SSD 600P series in the M,2 (1) top slot

So far new bios loaded fine using a USB stick no problems and Win-10 up and working.
Thanks for getting out an update so fast.

First, I assume you are using this board: http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=134-KS-E279-KR If so, as far as WHICH BIOS to use, it really does not matter, all of the BIOS's should have the same revision on them, so you can flash one top try it, or you can flash all of them.  I generally advise leaving your existing BIOS alone and flashing a different chip, and you can hot swap the BIOS.  Power on, go into BIOS, move the switch over one position and flash that one, this way your original is left untouched, just in case you have a problem, and you can use the new with no interaction at all to the other BIOS chip.

There are 3 separate BIOS chips, 2 of which are soldered to the board and one is in a socket and is replaceable.

Also due to how these boards are built, if you really hose up a BIOS, whether from a power outage during an update, or something else that has caused corruption, you can boot off of a different BIOS, switch it over to the BIOS that will not post, and hot flash it from within BIOS, and in a lot of cases will fix an issue with a BIOS, that on boards with a single non-removable BIOS would need an RMA.

First, good to know this flash fixed some of the issues.
Issue #3 sounds like a misdetection issue from it being a SATA based M.2 and is applying AHCI features to it, which it should not be.  I will pass this onto the BIOS team and see what we can do to get this fixed.

    Thanks for the information DaveB
    z270 Classified K :-)

I think Issue 3 work around is by setting all the SATA slots to disable hot plug BEFORE you enable a  SATA M.2 (1) or M.2(2).
You may need to save and restart between the steps.

If the 2 Chips with the green dot under the removable BIOS are the other 2 BIOS chips
can we say Switch position one ( all the way up) is the removable BIOS

(You take your's out and see which switch position then doesn't work-- haha )

I rather do wild and crazy things using the removable.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
I deleted my sig equipment list for this build will get it back :-)
The Crucial SATA M.2  525 GB was open box at MicroCenter for $99 hard to pass it up .

Any way to disable the hot plug for the marvell chip? I have the native ports and m.2 (1) drive now working fine but my other 3 drives on the marvell controller have no options in the bios to disable the hot plug.

    Ctrl-M doesn't work on the z270 classified.

All I see in the BIOS for the Marvel controller is enabled/disabled. It's not really robust on this board at all despite it saying having support for RAID 1/0/5 10 etc

I think they are working but you have to look in device manager or another utility to see them.
We hope the next bios lets us make them NOT hot plug.

and as I am sure you know have the drivers loaded.

Also, I find it a bit odd we haven't seen any updates on the BIOS in recent months.

the marvell controller is the very basic one, no raid or anything fancy, nice thing is that during the testing i did the speeds are on par with the native intel sata ports, which is refreshing.
