Seems the crashing is related to prior and recent EA updates and is affecting more systems. First reports started last November.

Is this a Game issue only on the RTX Cards?

I haven't check those individuals systems but it appears since November last year it is affecting more people especially after the last update.

I posted in another thread a Nvidia driver that crashed three seconds before the BF5 game crashes. Not sure which is causing the initial problem but it doesn't appear the Nvidia driver and BF5 are working very well together more so since the last nvidia driver and BF5 updates.

It began crashing on me as soon as the main menu loaded right after the driver update and patch to improve ray tracing performance

Started with 417.22 update for me, no sli.
Haven't tried the game in a while to see if it's been fixed with recent drivers

BF5 worked fine with last nvidia driver .35.  But at about the same time BF5 had their update, or at least I had loaded them up fairly close together and that is when BF5 (and only BF5) started crashing.

I went back to .35 but BF5 would crash when before it did not which leads me to believe it was BF5 update that isn't working well with the nvidia driver.

Did you test BF5 with the current driver 417.71 or 417.35?

The past two BF5 updates have seemed to affected some systems starting back last November. The most recent BF5 has caused the same issue on a new batch of systems.

Are you willing to try your testing on the last two Nvidia Drivers, 417.71 417.35?

Have you read thru this link for any possible clues that might hint at the problem? The Origin update released yesterday still hasn't corrected the crashes it was supposed to correct but at least Origin is aware of the problem and BF5 posters continue to report their experiences. Thirty seven pages and increasing with multiple attempts at hardware adjustments and test, software, bios, memory, overclocking, etc.. have proven the issue is Origin software or a combination of Origin and Nvidia driver incompatibility with the releases starting in Nov 2018.

It will get fixed eventually but three months of issues for some is a bit much.

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Game-Keeps-Crashing-don-t-know-what-to-do-HELP/td-p/7164680/page/37

One link (Dec 2018) that instructed the clearing of Origin Cache helped some run the game longer before crashing. Unfortunately it wasn't a fix.

Anyway thanks for the effort. The +1's might no go over to well on the BF5 report tech problems page however.

15 minutes would be a record for anyone having problems. The update yesterday has actually caused more problems and some now are unable to even open up the game without crashing. It has made my game more unstable as well.

More updates to come shortly I suspect.

I guess I could test this for you although I do not see the point installing a know bad Driver.
Driver 417.01 so far has been the Best RTX Driver to date.
I will post pack latter today. This is the Rig I using View System

Still not seeing any issues with a single card or in SLI mode.

I finally had time to reinstall 417.01 can say BF5 now works great again. So the question would be, is it BF5 programming or Nvidia drivers?

Would still like to know if 417.71 or .35 would fail on your system. Might prove informative.

I guess I could test this for you although I do not see the point installing a know bad Driver.
Driver 417.01 so far has been the Best RTX Driver to date.
I will post pack latter today. This is the Rig I using View System

Well that is what I've been trying to figure out for sometime now. Was it the Origin or Nvidia drivers causing the issue. I think we now know it appears to be the nvidia drivers which would make sense since a nvidia driver was crashing then recovering over a period of three seconds but resulted in BF5 program crashing.

I wasn't sure of this which is why I thought your testing the nvidia drivers might nail down the problem. But I agree, no need as it seems to be Nvidia causing the issue since November 2018.

I seem to have spoke too soon. Driver 417.01 worked until I closed out, restarted and played a bit more. Then it started crashing again.

I figured I'd try 417.71 again and played for a while with no crashes. I'll wait and see tomorrow however before claiming success again. I did delete Origin cache and other folders first before he download so maybe I'll hit the right combination this time.

    417.71 is also crashing again.

My step-up started so I'm sending the card in but interestingly when I installed the 980ti I had no crashes.

Issue finally resolved and all it took was a new card.

Just installed the step-up with a 2080 TI “XC” and no more crashes. The old standby 980 TI also worked flawlessly so I believe it is a nvidia update that caused all the problems with the 2080 XC that was installed at the time of the driver update. Since the only game using RT is bf5 and having all the issues while all other games continued to work fine, it has to have been a nvidia driver corrupting the RTers.

Question now is who takes blame for making your card unusable for any RT games and what will be the remedy?
