Hey all, just wondering if you 3080 and 3090 owners are buying the extended warranty.
 
Thinking about it since I keep cards for long periods of time (gtx 470 for 5-7 years, gtx 970 for 6-7 years, etc).
Of course it depends on the person, just wanted everyone's thoughts!

I bought the 10 year warranty for my 3090 FTW3 and Kingpin.  For 60 bucks it's hard to say no with EVGA's service customer service.  

Nah, I usually upgrade before the 3 year warranty runs out.

When you need to claim the RMA for warranty in the "extended" period, there will be time to buy RTX 4080 or RTX 5080.

I'm thinking I should have with the 3090.  LOL

I did too and I NEVER buy warranties.
 
My dad, who was an engineer, took a second job in the 80s working in the Sears repair department. He was very clear to me that warranties were free money to the seller. That bad electronics failed in their normal warranty window or were not bad and usually lasted a long time. Told me that I could afford to replace any of the electronics that failed outside the normal warranty window with the money I would have spent on warranties with money to spare.
 
But I saw the horror stories and these cards cost a lot more than I was used to spending on graphics cards and I got a bit worried.
 
It's funny because the car I own is popular for modding, and I bought it with the intention to mod, and I turned down the extended warranty because I knew it would never be honored because I was going to mod the car even with half the manufacturer's warranty left. Then I buy a $2000 GPU and pay for the warranty. Looking back I know I should have just saved my money. 

I think that it's better to if you go with the 3090 since it has the memory but the 3080 I think you might be wanting to upgrade in 3 years anyway because it doesn't have a lot of memory for 4K but should still be enough. For the 3080Ti I probably would since it seems to have the memory to last. Of course the biggest reason to consider it now for all cards seems to be the lack of supply. Hopefully in 3 years it fixes itself but who knows we could be seeing a 40XX or 50XX series that is impossible to find and then being able to get a replacement would be better then not having a GPU.

I purchased the extra 2 years warranty for my 3090 ftw3, £24 = a great deal.

I did not for the 980TI and regretted it, my card never died, but i was nervous, because if it did I knew I was not getting a brand new card easily, and mine was 6 years old.  On that note I am going to purchase the 10 year warranty now, who knows what will happen in 6 years , maybe this 3080TI can outlast everything else as well

I got the 5-year one this time. I usually upgrade my GPU within 3 years (just barely sometimes), but not always and with the 30-series issues that have happened I wanted to make sure I was covered just in case I do stick with it for a while. Especially with the price of this card (3080 ti). 

I always have since I started using EVGA GPUs and I will continue to do so.  I go for the ten year because who knows, I may keep a card repurposed in another machine.

I did the 5 year with the 3090 FTW3 and am debating on doing the same with the 3080ti.

I will if i can my hands on a damn card!

I will not be using either my 3090 or 3080 Ti in 3 years.  Never kept a card that long so an extended warranty is of no use.
