Hi All,

hoping to see someone had this issue or theres a fix that I'm missing here. Basically upgraded from 970 to 1080TI FTW. Everything ran good until all applications started crashing at 4k. Replaced it with MSI 1080TI FTW, same thing. Upgraded from 750 W to 850 W still same. Replaced it with EVGA 1070 FTW, same thing. did a DDU clean, and got a different 1080TI FTW, now it runs for like an hour or 2 then crashes at 4k.

GPUZ
Shows Voltage reliability
Temps don't go over 58 C
CPU Temps were up to 60C then i replaced my thermal paste, and now its a little better staying around 55 C

For some reason GTA V complained that i may not have enough V ram? am i missing something?

Specs:
Intel I7 3770 - 3.4 GHZ
16 GB RAM
850 W Psu
4k TV Samsung UHD
1 SSD, 2 HD's

GTA 5 is crashing? If yes, make sure ignore suggested limits is set to OFF.

No problem. Try doing #4 listed here to see if it helps you play longer without crashing.

If what Sajin suggests doesn't work: Have you verified the game files? There might be a corrupted file or two that is causing this. I've actually fixed some game crashing in the past by doing this.

If you can't verify the files, have you tried deleting and redownloading the game?

No i haven't re downloaded anything yet, it seems to be running better now but FPS drops from 60 to 30 for a few seconds and goes back to 60 intermittently. not sure if its hardware or just the game, its Deus ex Mankind Divided on 4K

Is it just GTA5 or do other games crash?
Have you OC'd the CPU and/or RAM?
Do you have V-Sync enabled? It might be causing some instability going from 60FPS down to 30FPS and vice versa frequently. Try turning it off and running the game with screen tearing. You dont need to play it, just stay in a populated area to push the graphis card and see if it crashes with V-Sync disabled.

Does dropping from 60 to 30 for a few seconds happen when just standing still inside the game? Do you see the issue in other games as well while standing still?

No it does that randomly, sometimes when standing and sometimes when walking. Its doing it on Deus Ex MD now and crashing again. why does an $800 card need this much debugging?

    +1
Some Games do not like it when you change Graphics Cards.
Sometimes you may even need to uninstall a Game Reboot and then Re-Install a Game for it to behave with the New Graphics Card.

When the applications crash do they produce an error? If yes, what does the error say? Do you have the same issues when playing the game on default settings? Is the game installed on your HDD? If yes, have you tried moving the game to your SSD to see if it helps fix the random fps drops?

I will tell you on my end what happened to me . I have a 1080TI Black edition SC , I started playing Gears 4 (4k 60FPS) earlier this month on it no issues smooth as butter , Then few days ago i decided to install the new nvidia driver and update Precision X software to 6.1.8 (was running 6.1.3) . After i did , Gears would crash in random places to the desktop with no warning at all .

It baffled me to no end . So i uninstalled the current GPU drivers installed the one from May 2017 , after that Launched the Game..... STILL the same Thing O_O

OK i was like let me see if this Precision X from EVGA is the issue , i uninstalled it , Decided to install 6.1.6 instead , BOOOM PROBLEM Solved !

Hope this helps you out !

You should never update two items a once "new nvidia driver and update Precision X software to 6.1.8"
I would First Install the NVIDIA Drivers after doing a Clean up of the Old and then test out your computer with this new Driver.
Then after you have found that you have now issues with the Driver then update XOC by uninstalling it Deleting all the EVGA Folders and (Profiles) then install the new XOC and create NEW Profiles.
But going back to 6.1.6 is the best option and to not install 6.1.8 until it is fixed or the next version is released.

I've hat the problem with GTA V once too - card has 11GB VRAM, game didn't use half of it but still complained. Happened only once. I've had a different problem with GTA V as well - it was crashing due to a bad/untested CPU overclock which I completely forgot about since I didn't use the PC after I sold the Strix 970 and waited for 1080 Ti FTW3. If you have ANY overclocks try putting them back to stock and check, if it helps.
