https://www.kitguru.net/lifestyle/mobile/apple/matthew-wilson/apple-warns-customers-against-using-non-apple-cloths-to-clean-pro-display-xdr/ Dust and smudges naturally end up on our screens from time to time. When it comes to cleaning the Pro Display XDR with nano-texture glass, Apple advises customers to “never use any other cloths” to clean it, aside from the dry polishing cloth that comes with the display. If you lose that cloth, you can contact Apple for a replacement, but you can only do so through customer support, so the pricing of the cloth isn’t readily available. Considering the Pro Display XDR stand is $999 and the VESA mount is $199, the cloth likely costs more than any of us would expect. Aside from sticking to Apple’s own cleaning cloth, you also should not add water or other liquids when cleaning the nano-texture glass display. When it comes to cleaning the cloth however, you should use soap and water, rinse thoroughly and then leave to air dry for at least 24 hours. With such ridiculous requirements I don't think I'll be be buying this particular monitor.

Good luck with that. Half the time, people's displays look like they were using a touch screen after eating a bucket of KFC.

Dire warnings against using "generic" microfiber cloths indeed. I wonder if the cloth is also compatible with the apple credit card?

OK, so the glass screen Coating scratches easily ... is that what we are to take from this ? How do you download a new cloth from the Apple Store "top-end version with ‘nano-texture glass’, you are going to be served with a $6,000 bill"

So wash it with soap and water but it's special and won't scratch the monitor? Sorry after being washed it's hard to believe it would still have magical properties any other cloth wouldn't have.

Those "people" are buying into familiarity and abide by it. I by no means fit that profile but I like the Apple TV and iPod products.

So much of Apple's value is in it's brand, the same is true for a lot of companies. I can see apple being on of the more extreme cases however. on the other hand, I don't think it deserves quite as much hate as it gets, nor as much praise. (why do I feel like I'm trying to take both sides at the same time?)

I 100% agree. Apple is almost always overpriced/bad value but they do make quality stuff that is very refined. Apple honestly rarely innovates anything, most of their success is taking a failed or wonky previous idea already done on Android and refining it for the masses. Turning a gimmick into an actual useful feature. My wife and my entire family use Android phones.... I on the other hand actually use an iphone, I switched about 5 years ago just to give it a chance and ended up really liking it. This year even upgrade to the 11 pro. Can it do everything my wife's Samsung Note 10 can....no. Is it more locked down and offers less customization... yes. I like it though, its blazing fast, takes great pics/video and its very simple and boring UI just works. I have also notice while apple products cost a lot they hold their value very well. I sold my 2 year old Iphone X 256 gb for $650 locally in 2 hours after I got my new phone. I know my wifes Note 10 after 2 years will have no chance at that. Again I think a lot of hate apple get is very justified but some isn't.

I have an iPhone...I've tried a Pixel 3...hated it...but only because it's not working like I expect it to. It had a great camera.... I will likely stick with iPhone, simply because I know how to do what I want without having to relearn muscle memory again. I don't buy other Apple products

Keep in mind this is the display for people who can afford to consider the Mac Pro which tops out at over $52,000. So I don't think that they will mind having to buy an expensive towel.
