I have constant crashing stemming from my gpu... At least every 30 mins. I'm not sure what is causing it other that FAH just pushing too hard. Any ideas?

I feel like I need to limit the load FAH forces on the gpu down to about 70% or so, but I don't know how it's done.

Folding will not tolerate Any stability issues ... it will fail the WU Remove any OC on your CPU & RAM Run GPU at stock MHz & RAM - increase temp & power targets to max set all fans to 100% - including case fans to keep temps low as possible You also need stable power to the PC & a good PSU Crashing under heavy load could also indicate a PSU issue ... though usually that would force the PC to reboot List your hardware, OS ....

Pull 2 sticks. Run 8GB only and start folding. See if it still errors out and crashes.

I pulled the Ram and immediately as I started opening the client I had a kernel-power. Faulting application path: C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\cores\cores.foldingathome.org\win\64bit-avx-256\a7-0.0.19\Core_a7.fah\FahCore_a7.exe Faulting module path: C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\cores\cores.foldingathome.org\win\64bit-avx-256\a7-0.0.19\Core_a7.fah\FahCore_a7.exe Since the reboot, I continue to get those faults nearly non stop.

Is try upping the cpu voltage if overclocking. The kernel-power is a general cpu crash related to power draw. Either not enough power or not stable enough for the processor. Maybe increase the AVX offset. Could also be a cooling issue with 1 part of the cpu getting too hot.

Did you ever stress test to see if your system was stable with 2400Mhz memory? That's extremely high clocks for a Haswell CPU and I bet yours isn't stable. Manually tuning my RAM I couldn't get 2400 stable on my 4790K, and the XMP settings wouldn't even boot. Don't use the Folding@home program to stress test with. If you fail too many WUs you will lose your early return bonus points, and honestly that many failed WUs isn't good for the folding project either, it slows things down! Use Prime95's torture test, I recommend the Blend mode for you: http://www.mersenne.org/ftp_root/gimps/p95v303b6.win64.zip Make sure to monitor your CPU temps.

I have CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Precision-x, E-Leet, etc. They all show everything is good.(one at a time of course) I try to keep my gpu temps below 80C just cause. I never have run my Ram at 2400Mhz. Always at my MB default which is XMP1 @ 1600Mhz. Which is techically OC'd but I wouldn't know what settings to set at what if I turned off XMP. I I just know I've had this same issue since built. I rma'd the original gpu and have just baby'd it since. (whole reason why I stopped folding back then. Doesn't seem to need to get hot or OC'd to happen just used to normal full potential. Although it seems to take longer to happen if I underclock the GPU. I can't find a way to underclock fully back to base clocks and not have it boost back up under load. BTW memtest shows rated at 2400mhz and no errors after about an hour.

oh yeah I run on 3 monitors @ 5760 x 1080, but I have also tried to disable 2 and run @ 1920 x 1080 with same results.

What's your power supply situation look like?
Please tell me you're using individual cables and not daisy chaining PCIe power connectors...

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 PG, 80 Plus GOLD. 120-PG-0750-GR. 1 - 20A 8-pin rail & 1 - 20A 6-pin rail feeding the GPU. 1 - 8-pin CPU rail & 1 - 20A 6-pin Aux PCI-e on the MB. Of Coarse the 24-pin ATX and 1 - SATA BD-RW. When I'm not working and actually putting a load on it, I only have 1 - Sata SSD powered up. I am curious if the 4 - 20A rails rather than 1 @ 60-80A could cause an issue, especially being that I only ever have an issue under load, I never let my temps get high, and I never OC since I first got this build and realized it wasn't gonna happen. How would I got about testing the PSU? With a jumper and a multimeter, or is there a better option. I still have a couple of years warranty left on it so it be a good idea to find out. Thanks for all your help, Terry

It's either the GPU or PSU. I am going to lean on the GPU as it's the oldest part of your system. The PSU is enough amps to power 2 of those cards on that system no issues imo. I have had PSU stop working completely or smoke when they have gone out. My best guess is since it's a generic Microsoft code on the error, is that it's a hot GPU or going bad ram on GPU from my past experiences. almost best to swap out card for any card, and see if same system issues, if same issues it's not GPU related.

Sounds good. Would you still lean that way if I told you I bought all the parts at the same time and built this system back in early 2014, I had the same issues right out of the gate, and ended up RMA'ing the GPU in 07/14? Since then I have baby'd it with only some light gaming. Running like that I still have an issue here and there but it is always just driver crash and recover. (never a full kernel-power event). With the undiagnosed issue I never wanted to upgrade anything one at a time for fear of throwing money at it and having the same problem. I've got smaller cards but I always just figured that would be a disparate comparison. Maybe I'll try and find a cheap used 760 on ebay to test.

Try pulling the Aux PCI-e cable and see if that helps at all. Run PRIME 95 for a couple hours; that should stress just the CPU. It should get through that with no problems. Then try running just a GPU benchmark (there's tons) and see if it causes a crash.

I was pretty sure the CPU wasn't the issue just because I've never seen any instability stemming from it. So.. I bought a used gtx 760 off of ebay to use a apples to apples diagnostic tool to test my system. And that was my whole issue! I am now able to fold with no limits and everything set to max. It is showing my est PPD to be between 300 and 350k, when previously I was crashing when trying to barely hit 100K! I appreciate all the help, I wish I would have gotten with you guys about this 5 years ago! lol Thanks, Terry

Oh, that's a good deal. An easy fix, it's always nice to have spare parts to test sometimes. Now sell your old one, for a few bones, or not. Glad to hear you're fixed up.
