The benchmarks look good for single operations on the M1, curious and in the market for a new laptop. Anyone tried yet? Worth the hype ?

Seems like it will be amazing for laptops, especially given the thermals and battery life. It will be interesting to see how they translate it to real desktop processors, not just entry level desktops that literally have the same chip as an iPad.

Totally agree, battery life CHECK MARK ! If they can nail performance on desktop, well, I get excited.

Saw one today, the screen size leaves a little to be desired to be honest. 15" seems to be a sweet spot for me. But it was VERY fast, at least on simple tasks. I remain undecided however. Anyone want to convince me ;)

M1 is seriously impressive in a laptop, but I think M1X will be coming this later this year in August. The ARM cpu should be more refined by then and very few apps will have to use Rosetta, so I think it might be worth waiting for that to come. If you need a lightweight laptop right now with insane battery life though and can live with MacOS, I think the Macbook Air or Pro is the way to go

Had a m1 MacBook Air, great laptop. Unfortunately has to sell it as my company requires a software that is windows only.

How did you get on with it, apart from needing windows was there anything else to complain about or write home about ?
