I have submitted a step-up request for 2080, but I noticed that there is only one option for stepping up to 2080, which is the 2080 xc black edition. Anyone knows the difference between this black edition and a regular xc model? I noticed that the boost clock is different, where black edition is 1740 MHz. Does that mean the GPU die on black edition has less OC potential than xc or xc ultra? It could not be stable at 1800 MHz? Just like 1080 ftw and ftw DT. OR, they are the same but the factory OC frequency, where I could just overclock to the same frequency by myself?

Looks like the only difference is clock speed & trim color.

Yeah, thanks for the reply. it looks like that's the only difference, but the black edition was 50 dollars cheaper, that kinda confuse me. I was guessing if black edition is the same gpu on xc but "lose the silicon lottery", which has a lower stable OC.

Well you can always try a bit of manual overclocking but overclocking is never guaranteed.

Actually, the only difference is clock speed. Trim color is the same on this model, like the other XC models - white. The other Black Edition models, non - XC, use black Trim.

So No Chip binning between XC Black and XC Gaming ?

    No TU-104-400A and TU-104-400B Chip difference ?

So under Same Conditions, Same OC capabilities ? (Normal Silicon lottery ignored) .

No lower Power Target/Vcore in BIOS ?

    Only lower Factory Clock?

    Best regards

Hi, I just call evga technical support, what they said is xc and xc black edition uses the same chip, which should be TU104-400A, but the only difference is the factory oc coming out of the box. I am personally guessing probably the chip used on xc black edition would have a slightly lower potential to overclock than xc.

I've been hearing that the SKU's closest to the MSRP are going to be the lower ones.  My next question would have been is, does the FTWs and other custom boards share the same chip with the XC models?

I don’t think difference between XC and FTW3 would be the chip, they should all using the same chip (despite those cards sell at MSRP and do not have factory OC), the difference should be the PCB, cooler, power phase, etc.

So far, there isn’t a Sku close to msrp at all, so I doubt any of the available card will be utilizing the other chip for now.

i own a 2080 black (non xc model) my gpu is tu104 A1 , it boosts itself to 1830mhz out of the box, temps range from 70-76c gaming on bfv/bo4/pub g at 1440p ultra everything , 30c@ idle after startup , 40c @ idle after gaming. card always sits around 20w at idle, can bump it down about 1w if i turn the rgb off lol..... its a monster no doubt

Wow, honestly looks like the binned chip and non binned chip have a huge difference. I just switch my 2080 xc black to water cooling, so I looked at the gpu, which is a 400A chip. Without OC, it could stable at 1935-1950 when playing bfv. It could also stable at 2055-2070 by manually overclocking
