Recently returned home after months and have been using my SC17 GSync Laptop plugged into a monitor at 1080p again. Nothing about the laptop has changed except maybe Windows updates. Same graphics driver from day 1, same everything from day 1. Haven't touched bios, etc. For the most part games work really well but they always seem to have a hitch in gameplay at some point. And I must admit the games I play aren't very demanding at all. Great temps never exceeding 60c either. I play old MMORPGs from my era, such as older versions of WoW and the only recent game I play is Tekken 7. I'll get locked 60FPS then out of nowhere drops to around 30fps for a second. I can look past minor drops of 1-2 frames but drops that big hinder the experience greatly, especially in Tekken 7.
Is this normal? And if it isn't, has anyone experience this issue and fixed it? It seems to happen in just about every game I play. Recently tried out a game called Albion and had to quit cause the random frame drops. Shame, cause that game is actually really awesome!
I'm not the most tech savvy person but I follow instructions very well. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Is that 60c on the cpu, gpu, or both?

Typically on both but that is only for Tekken 7 for the most part. Temps when running a game like older versions of WoW are high 40c, low 50c for CPU. GPU maybe around 55c.

Wouldn't be surprised if it were caused by a windows update. I'd do a clean install of windows and see if the issue persists or not after that.

It has been reported by multiple people that BIOS version 1.07 causes huge intermittent FPS drops/stutters.

If you aren't worried about losing some Spectre/Meltdown security protection, you can try going back to BIOS version 1.06 and see if things improve.

I don't know the exact model you own nor operating system, so I can't give you a direct link. But, here is where you can find it:
    https://www.evga.com/support/download/

Select "other products" tab. Then, choose category "laptop", select model number (written on sticker on back of laptop), select type "BIOS", uncheck "show latest driver" in order to see the older version 1.06, click Submit, and then download the one appropriate for your laptop.

Once you have the 1.06 BIOS, I recommend that you extract the contents of the archive, copy the .ROM file to a USB stick, and then do the firmware update from within the BIOS (right-most tab in BIOS and bottom-most option). You can do the update from within Windows, but I personally think it is safer to do it outside of the operating system. It's up to you though.

How do I know which BIOS version I am on? I never updated it. Whatever version it shipped with back in 2017 is more than likely still there.

My apologies for the dumb question, haha. BIOS states that I have version 1.01 in the lower right corner. Is this a problematic version?

I don't know if it is particularly problematic. I know some earlier versions were problematic with certain versions of Windows for the Gsync model of the SC17. I know earlier than version 1.07 has Spectre/Meltdown vulnerabilities. Whether or not you find that problematic is kind of your opinion.

Either way, I guess this rules out BIOS version 1.07 as a possible cause of the huge FPS drops.

Make sure Windows power options are set for high performance. Sometimes that changes to some other setting after windows updates.

Also make sure your NVIDIA control panel settings are what you want them to be. Sometimes Windows updates your video driver without your knowing it and this can cause NVIDIA settings to change without you knowing it.

Hello bkpbkpbkp! As others have mentioned, you might want to update the BIOS of your laptop. If you are still using version 1.01 then there have been quite a few bug fixes since then in the newer BIOS version. You can find instructions on updating the laptop BIOS at the link here: http://www.evga.com/support/faq/?f=59717. I would also recommend updating the NVIDIA driver as well. If you haven't updated the drivers in a while then updating might help fix the issues. Some other tips are to ensure that any Windows 10 XBox integrations are disabled in your Windows 10 settings, your power plan is set to "High Performance" in the Windows Control Panel, and that Shadowplay is disabled if you have Geforce Experience installed on the laptop.
