bcavnaugh 3DMark Fire Strike: 16,984 is showing on your MODS RIGS but no link
Yeah because I don't have a copy of it so I can't validate the score. I don't plan on buying it either
I think you can install the Free one and Post only One Score from each Benchmark. I have owned it for so long I cannot recall.
Free copy only allows you to run and post TimeSpy... I can't even run FireStrike... well without faking it out. I have to disable my network card and run it but it will not post be no internet. Plug in internet and it says not a valid copy and will not post score. either way that is the points I am getting but I have not "valid score" don't care enough to spend money on it. only $29.99 but first time and last time I will run it for a long time

@nickbaldwin86, I can confirm that the Basic Edition of 3DMark allows you to run Fire Strike; you just need to choose the correct test in the Benchmark menu. You cannot run Extreme or Ultra, but you can run Standard. I just did this on a machine in the office.

I will try again when I get home tonight. Every time I clicked on FireStrike it said "you must Upgrade to Advanced for the benchmark"

Thank God someone finally banned that kid, now we can continue with the topic at hand. As for running a 8700K at 5Ghz on the EVGA Classified Z370 it will more be determined by your particular CPU. Most motherboards from good brands will be within about 1% give or take when overclocking and 5Ghz is usually a easily reachable target with 8700Ks it will just depend on each CPUs particular voltage needs. This 8700K did 5Ghz on my previous MSI Krait Z370 with 1.36v and will do the same 5Ghz with 1.35v on this ASUS Maximus Hero.

Decent score with a 8350K. Overclock your GTX 1080's memory and you'll see another decent performance bump. You should be able to get it running at 11Ghz without too much trouble. That will take it's memory bandwidth from 320GB/S to 352GB/S and give your card a little more room to stretch it's legs. For comparison here is my previous GTX 1080 with my 8700K @5Ghz https://www.3dmark.com/fs/14269952 My graphics score is a little higher but what the difference in the scores are is your physics score vs mine and that's where having only 4 threads is hurting your numbers.

Not bad at all. Your graphics score is actually higher now than my previous GTX 1080. But I was air cooled with the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW and was only able to hold 2088Mhz on the core with it. As for the CPU that's really going to be determined by the chip itself in those ranges if you can get it stable and with what voltage.

Um, you're comparing his with with a GTX 1080 to yours with a GTX 1080 Ti. There is no reasonable amount of overclocking he can do to get on even ground with a GTX 1080 Ti and it's 1024 more cores.

Yes I do know this, it was only for a compare and I did say I would run my 1080 tomorrow. But we are also setting up our Z370 MB and Overclocking and so one and sharing info and stuff like that. It is also the only computer I have with only one GPU installed until I finish my Z370 install. Also it is more about out CPUs and hardware and Fire Strike provide that info as well. But I see your point and removed it. Then I also have no rig to compare with his so kind of pointless in the end.

I have a grape you have an apple.... it is fine. we can compare whatever. I am comparing my system against Ryzan builds and other 1080s and Tis just to see if I should have spent more money and got a Ti or if I should have got a 8700K My end goal is to get a 8700K but this monster i3 is honestly enough to get me going and honestly other than a few points in a benchmark it will get me playing every game maxed out, or at least for my monitor.
Anyways will have to see if I spend the extra coin on a 8700k but I saved it to afford a better monitor. which I should be ordering this weekend :) Acer z35

I just got mine and I can tell you that they seem to be decent at overclocking - while I'm still waiting for better cooling supplies to ship, I'm getting 4.8 easily with just air and at decent temps ranging from 50-75C (I live in a hot area so...)

What? You guys don't have the BIOS update that turns your CPU into a cooling device for your room? So I can tell you that replacing the TIM with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Thermal Grease Paste and delid'ing it with RockitCool's tool is not only easy, but effective. The before and after pics after playing some PUBG. This was with 7700K/EVGA 270 Classified. But I delid'ed 8700K before my EVGA 370Classified ever showed up, so there's no before pic for the 8700K. And I'm using AIO CPU cooler: CL-W007-PL12BL-A And the CPU-Z output from: https://valid.x86.fr/inxmri

bcavnaugh Now That Is what I am Going For, Nice https://valid.x86.fr/ivnnr7 How is your GTX 1080 Ti Performing? I will be very happy with mine if I can run with the same CPU Clocks as yours.
Sorry, I did not see the question about the 1080 Ti. I'd say the 8700K definitely allowed it to stretch its legs fully. With my resolution at 1440p and 144Hz, utilization fluctuated constantly from 85 - 95% with my old i7-5775C at 4.3GHz in BF1. Now, the GPU is consistently loaded at 98-99%. With a recent tuning on the memory thermal pads and repasting the die, the GPU is now completely stable at 2100MHz/12600MHz -- a very fine sample, if I may say so. Oh yeah, was also able to push memory to 4266MHz-CAS17.

I haven't done an overclock since the i7 920. This seemed good enough for me. I set Vcore to 1.250 with no AVX offset. Ran several different stress tests with 0 WHEA. Temperature on the validation was taken while running Prime95 26.6 using Custom option, Run FFTs in-place, min/max set to 1344 for 3 hours. Edit: Looks like I can't add links, but temperature was 70° C.
