I have XFX RX 580, Ryzen 1600 and Corsair 550w bronze. Im getting extreme coil whine coming from my GPU and almost all of them said it's because of my corsairs psu. I have returned it and waiting for my Evga 600w bronze. However I still have no idea if it's going to affect the coil whine on my gpu. Anyone here changed their psu and the coil whine went away? Is there anything I can do besides changing the PSU? Just curios, I dont want to feel like I wasted my $30 on nothing

The power supply can definitely help reduce coil whine.

Welcome to the forums...

I have read here where members had bad coil whine, swapped for a better quality PSU, and the coil whine was gone or was improved quite a bit.

Thanks!
Thats what Im trying to do. Would you say this power supply is great enough to reduce the coil whine on my Gpu? Is the difference that big between bronze and gold psu in terms of noise level (not efficiency)

The power supply can definitely help reduce coil whine.

The keyword is can here.

Depends also on the powerlines etc used to connect the PC afaik, but also having the luck with the components on the GPU itself.
I mean I have an AX1200i and even on this PSU I have coil whine on the old 780Ti (RMA) in a few hundred of fps, though the first 780Ti I had only did this after 1000 fps.
My current FTW3 only seems to do it well beyond 2000fps if I even could hear it correctly, the rest of the PC made much noise.

Thats the thing, people are only getting coil whines when they're hitting high fps and Im here with vsync and enhanced sync and I still have a really high pitched coil whine at 40-60fps

For me personally, I would never buy a PSU under a gold.  The gold versions and up are made not only more effecient, but with better quality internal parts.

The PSU is the heart of the system.  Best not to skimp on that.  Buy the best quality PSU you can afford and skimp somewhere else if need be.

Going to request a moderator move this thread to general hardware or to evga power supplies. This forum is for the EVGA 1000 series GPU’s, and currently this thread is about a power supply and AMD hardware.

Also, I agree with the post above this one.  I would never buy a bronze PSU either.  Either Gold or higher, as the efficiency is far greater and much more suited for running the system with cleaner power.

I was using a non-active PFC compatible UPS that caused my 780 Tis to both buzz quite loudly when under load. I switched to an active PFC compatible UPS and the buzz went away. So, the power being put into the PSU can also have an affect on coil whine as well.

Minimum Power Supply Requirement 550 watt
XFX Recommended Power Supply XFX 600W PSU Link
With a Ryzen 1600 No Less than a 650 Watt PSU IMO.

Any GPU that takes more than one External Power Connector should get a Gold PSU.
Yours takes Two. (Two Separate Power Cables are Better than One to Note)
External Power - 8-pins 1
External Power - 6-pins 1

Absolutely correct so one of the things you can do is try and plug your PC into a power socket that is NOT on the same circuit as the one you have now.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Cancelled my 600w bronze. This time I ordered a EVGA supernova G1 650w Gold. Hopefully this is way better

Great and it comes with 2x 600mm(m), 2x 750mm(m) Power PCIE Cables so you should use Both.

As others have said, the GPU or the PSU can cause the coil whine that you hearing. That said, if it is an EVGA GPU and the issues continue with other PSUs, we would offer to get the card replaced.
