The way I see it
 
3090 kingpin should be 3090 ftw3
3090 ftw3 should be the XC3

Evga just rebranded their cards and overcharged.
They will pay the price in the future. Ampere will eventually be in stock everywhere, and the 3080ti will be a hot ticket.
The ftw3 version wont be sought after the same way anymore, they permanently damaged that brand name
 
If you watch pcb breakdowns or ftw3 reviews in general, the card is very mediocre. They completely locked this down and made it so you don't even have a header to volt mod either. A lot of the components are cheap and "reference" bottom of the barrel quality
The kingpin also isnt very special. 520watt bios? big deal. It's insulting that they call this "LN2"
 
Last gen the card shipped with a bios 150watts higher than the FTW3. It also came with Samsung memory which often binned higher and made the card more special
 
This generation the kingpin feels like it should be the ftw3. I completely understand why Evga tried so hard to lock down these cards, since otherwise it would perform exactly the same
 
They just scammed everyone and hiked the price big time. Your paying $500 premium for a ftw3 and $300premium for an xc3

I'm not trying to come off as a shill in any kind of way, but the FTW3 is also an aesthetic card with arguably the best aRGB lighting of all the 3080s. That's probably where the price tag comes from in addition it has a much better PCB design and actually uses all 3 PCI-E pins compared the the MSI Trios X which is $750. It still performs as one of best reviewed cards. 
 
The FTW3 Gaming ones are coming out in large production soon, those run for $790. I can see $90 extra going into the higher power deliver and aRGB light bar easily. It's not like the card is $900. 

There is no promise that they will release the 1,000w bios this time around.
Keep in mind this bios has thermal protections disabled so im not sure its even that desirable if u plan to use this for your daily setup
From a reliable source from a guy who used to be a moderator for kingpin on his forum that Vince only released this bios to a handful of ppl
And the person that used to dump bioses on xdev no longer works for evga anymore
