I heard that some people (usually bots) end up buying busted cards or even empty boxes on Etsy. The person selling the burned out cards or boxes on Etsy are selling them as "art" pieces... but people who are desperate and can't read the description, or have a bot that buys things randomly won't notice until it's too late.

Maybe the ROI is higher as a result of minimal risk due to limited oversite on the platform (at least relative to ebay).

People fall for this kind of bogus sales opp all the time. Many people who falls for these usually have tunnel vision and only see one thing: GPU, $$$$, etc. and will usually don't pay attention to the fine prints. For those that do fall for this, only themselves to blame. Now if someone didn't post any of these stuff and trying to scam via a fraduulent posting, then that is illegal.
