30xx series seems to offer a REAL viable 4k gaming experience.

I know I started a thread like this about 8 months ago for a 1440p, but there doesn't seem to be much new in the way of 4k monitors coming out lately?   I just can't seem to find a 4k monitor that suits my needs according to PC part picker.    Looking for 4k, at least 120hz, low ms.  IPS I can take or leave.   But my biggest want is 25 inch.  I get the feeling we won't be seeing 25 inch 4ks anymore

I'm looking at the LG CX 48 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV.

Seems LG still needs a firmware update for G-Sync though. Skip to the 7:13 timestamp to hear about the firmware update.

I just bought the LG CX 48" for this exact reason.  I don't have a 3080 yet (no luck so far), so I can't let you know how it does with 4k 120 Hz with my current 980 ti.  I will say that I really like the TV though. I have watched some nice HDR and 4k stuff, what a picture. OLED has beautiful colors and the contrast is unmatched. I have it mounted on the wall above my desk and monitor, a Dell U3415W. I still have this old monitor to do PC work, but I play most games on the TV now. My reasoning to get it was simple, you get all the things for the same price of a high end monitor that would lack some of what this TV has. $1500 gets you a 48", 4k, 120 Hz, G-Sync, HDR10 beast with HDMI 2.1. Compare that with some monitors at that price point and you are going to sacrifice some of that for sure. And if you are worried about OLED burn in, I wouldn't. For one, you are likely not to experience an issue. But if it still bothers you, you can buy protection through Geek Squad if you get it from Best Buy. I went ahead and did that for piece of mind. It was like an additional $300 for 5 years of coverage that is confirmed to cover OLED screen burn in.

Do you guys come from a console background? I'm not being condescending I'm genuinely wondering what the draw is to large TVs for gaming.   My friends who game are solely console gamers and they play in the living room on large TVs.  They actually think I'm weird for playing on something under 30 inches 2 feet away.

Heh imagine having your rig connected to an imax screen?

Tired of 27", i think these companies will start having to push 32" monitors for all this 4K gaming.

I'd like 32" 4K 144hz low latency, Gsync. Probably be a few years, huh?

That is really nice I must admit.  Last time I got 27" I couldn't handle it, I felt like I was in the front row of the cinema, way zoomed in.   The thing I want to know is,  if I -did- go from 1440p at 25" to 4k at 27", aren't I really just left with the same clarity?  Higher res, but more area to see the pixels and jaggies. I'm assuming though, I've never seen it personally.  I've never seen 4k native with my own eyes either.

Yeah I get the feeling if I don't want to go 27" for 4k, I'll be waiting forever for new 4k 25" monitors.

No. Your pixels per inch will increase from 117 ppi to 163 ppi. The higher the ppi the shaper the image.

The difference would be going from about 3.7 million pixels to 8.3 million. At that point the increase in pixel count makes up for the extra 2".

As for the monitors I think 2021 will be a good year for 4K displays. The 2080Ti was priced at a top tier card with a price tag starting at $1,000. That made it so companies building these displays for 4K gaming knew that they could sell to people with serious money to drop on a display. Now that the 3080 is out we are seeing the price for the graphics cards to run these displays drop 50% with the 3070 giving about equal performance for half the price. Now these new gamers with 4K cards are going to be interested in a 4K monitor for gaming and the need will be filled. Of course high end monitors use parts that will keep them expensive expect models to come down in price that have been around for a while and new budget models over 2021.

I do not game on consoles, however, yes my gaming rig is in my front room. I sit about 10' away from the screen, so it works perfect for me. Right now I have a 4K 50" LCD TV as my gaming monitor, but I would like to go OLED for the better picture quality and this TV with HDMI 2.1 would be great and the price isn't bad either.

Thanks for the explanation that has put my mind at ease.  I just measured how much room I have to push a monitor back than where my current one is if I "felt too close" and I have six inches, probably good enough for 4k 27"

Gorgeous looking beast. Though I thought OLED was still not viable because of UI elements causing burn in from hours of gaming?

The Samsung Odyssey G9 49" Gaming Monitor. Not 4K but great for a 5120x1400 monitor. I think 4K/8K is way over rated.

    🙄
4k/8k has left the forums and chat😹😹😹

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

nice, do you do any digital editing on it? i heard people say its harder to draw as you don't get straight lines due to the curvature of the screen
