I looked around a little bit, and it seems that the gaming chairs have something to offer over the office chair's I've used before. I've been using this chair: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZC69OYand while it's not lacking in durablity (aside from the armrests) I can't really call it all that comfortable, and very limited with adjustments. I'm a bit under 300 Ibs (and will continue dropping hopfully) but I don't want to be right up against the weight limit. so ideally 350 lb or more, and not one that requires you to big tall (I'm around 5'8'") Anyone have good recommendations? I don't want to more than $300 unless it's really worth the extra and will last a good while as well (then I might go up to even $500) Also I'm not sure if this qualifies as "general Hardware" or not and should be in that forum, as it seems more furniture than hardware, but then again "gaming" is in the name so...

All "Gaming" racer style chairs are made in the same few factories over seas. For the most part the frame, base, lift, caster, arms cushion etc etc are the same. What differs is color way, upholstery material and design. If you really want that kind of chair just get one that you can afford from a brand that you know and a look you like. just make sure you don't get the ones with the wings on the side. They will dig right into your thighs But for the most part they all feel the same when you sit in them. Not very comfortable for long sessions and not ergonomic. I got my wife a black and pink DXRacer at a very discounted price during an event they were at since they didn't want to ship them back. Shes small and doesn't sit for long periods but I, 5'8'' 160lbs and can't sit in it for more than an hr. There's no back support what so ever. I have an all mesh ergonomic office chair that I can sit in for hrs and not feel any fatigue that cost me around $375 from Autonomous that's fully adjustable.

I did search and find a few, though haven't found any with a chair that's over 300lb, and I don't want something that's pushing past or up to that limit really. Seems limited options if you don't want to take the risk of a chair that's has a spec that you're over. and if I'm going to spend a lot on a chair, I don't want one that I'm hoping I can "get away with" being over it's weight limit.

I would see what the options are in the area for what you can go and demo then go and find a few that feel good then sit in them pull out your phone and play a mobile game or read emails and news stories. The point is a lot of people go into a store and sit in a chair for a total of maybe 20 seconds before deciding if it's right for them. If you can sit in a chair and be good for like five minutes it's far more likely you will enjoy the purchase and don't discover things you notice sitting in it long term that you don't like.

I have one. Don't like it too much. The seat's cover less than 2-3 years is falling apart. The arm rest to the right has busted open and deformed. Has that the plastic/fake leather feel. The foam cushion was nice at first but feels like I'm sitting on something hard. I have some issues with my arms and back but not 100% sure if its because of the chair but I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I think my next chair will be a high end exec high that are in the $1K range with real cushions and leather. It's the most comfy chairs you can get outside of the foam and fake leather before they start falling apart.

For a high weight limit, I'd check out Steelcase (400lbs weight limit). High priced but very high quality. My workplace has a couple Think chairs and I love them. They list all specs and measurements on their store page. I also have a Secretlabs, the 2020 Omega in fake leather. Had it about a year and so far have loved it. I'm 5'6' and 150 lbs with an athletic build. But I'm not excited to hear about GTXJackBauer's experience and hope mine will be better. So far, I've found the PU 2.0 leather in this chair to be far superior to any other fake leather, but of course time will tell.

IMHO I feel like these are the best for 'gaming' and especially longer sessions. Very comfortable, very adjustable and super sturdy (depending on what you buy of course). Picture is just an example but I'm still using one of similar type I've purchased 10 years ago.

I have this one (I think it was a little cheaper when I bought it) https://www.needforseatusa.com/en_us/shop/maxnomic-needforseat-pro.html and I'm very satisfied with it overall. It's coming up on about 3 years old with no issues that I can tell so far. For about $30 more you can get their Office Comfort series that is good for up to 285lbs, but if you really think you need the extra capacity their XL series runs about $570. At that point you're probably better looking for professional grade office chairs maybe? The Office and XL series have a flatter base though. You can use their config tool to play with height/weight to get recommendations https://www.needforseatusa.com/maxnomic_chair_configurator I've been wanting to try out a Secretlabs Omega to see if the foam is slightly softer than my NFS one though. The foam is really stiff and while it gives me good support, some spots get sore after extended (3-4 hour) sessions. I have a friend locally that has one just haven't gotten over to see it.

I got this one https://www.ewinracing.com/flash-series/16-ewin-flash-series-ergonomic-large-size-computer-gaming-office-chair-with-pillows-flb.html It's got a 550lb weight limit that I never want to get close to, but it's nice to know it's built sturdy. It's a very comfortable chair, but also a very big chair. I'm 5' 11" and my feet stay flat on the floor but not by a lot. It's built for tall and big people. What I like: The seat cushion is very comfortable and never sinks in and does not form depressions where I sit. I've had this for 2 years a year and a half (thought it was longer) and still as comfortable as the first day. The lumbar cushion is very nice. I didn't think I would like this, but I love it. It's big. I mean really big. The thing came in a box that weighed about 100lbs...89 of that was just the chair. It's sturdy, very good casters. The back angle adjustments go from ramrod straight to laying almost flat. I don't have to worry about the the pneumatic cylinder collapsing on me. What I don't like: It's PU leather and feel aside, I get SWAS and it just doesn't look right when you get up from gaming with a sweaty butt imprint on your chair. Generally I put a small towel there. If you live in a hot climate or have it in a room without good circulation, you can get hot gaming with the PU leather. All in all though I love the chair and don't regret getting it at all. It's worth a look. Edit: sorry I just noticed you said you're about 5' 8" this would probably be too big then. Still, check out their other chairs. What got me looking at them was most of them had a higher weight limit than any other chair I'd seen.

I ended up getting this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JYP69VF/a Blue whale brand chair (they aren't being subtle with the big and tall naming here) I hope it's just a case of simply not paying for the brand, but was able to save a lot over the brand named ones that don't really look any different.

Let us know how it holds up. It wasn't clear what kind of foam was in it from the Amazon listing. Most of the more $$$ ones have cold rolled foam which is a bit firmer and holds up longer.

The human eye can't see more than 24 chairs lined up in a row. Seriously though, I couldn't see whether that has a back tilt? Like a car seat, that it critical to me. I like my spine to be mostly straight, not leaning back. I actually game on my current chair sitting straight my back never touches the chairs back.
