https://www.anandtech.com/show/14763/dell-reveals-alienware-34-curved-monitor Alienware have announced their new flagship gaming monitor, which manifests in the form of the AW3420DW monitor. This is a 34" monitor with 4K (3440 x 1440) resolution powered by a fast, 120 Hz refresh rate IPS panel. Alienware have designed their Nano Color technology into this monitor, which means that it can cover 98% of the DCI-P3 and 134.5% of the sRGB color gamuts. I am personally not impressed with the 350 nits brightness.

Its been on sale for cheaper, in the $500 to 600 range when you deduct a gift card that is included.

The 2019 LG OLED55C9 typically sells for $1600, but I have seen it on sale once in awhile for as low as $1300. Surely this black friday that is the most it will cost. Now before you say 55" is too large, we need to compare this to ultrawide standards as that is the display covered in this thread. Using NVIDIA control panel you can customize the resolution to QHD ultrawide and deal with the black bars on the top and bottom. As a result, the viewable area is only 2 to 3" more than this alienware display. The only issue is that there is no g-sync, but once video cards launch with HDMI 2.1 there will be ULL and VRR. So you will have to upgrade your video card for that. But you will get all the benefits of an OLED that has HDR and dolby vision with a bit of a lower price tag from the outlook of things. Then comparatively you will also be ready for next gen consoles that will use HDMI 2.1, whereas this alienware will not benefit, plus any console use will result in black bars on the left and right side of the display, as well as for movies. For those that want an even smaller display, with a tighter pixel density; a 48" version for an even lower cost will launch before video cards with HDMI 2.1 launch.

I am not sure what justifies this over its current year model. The 120Hz is still an overclock, so this panel is likely 100Hz native, no HDR, no increased contrast, and 50 nits extra for brightness..... so $1500 for 50 more nits of brightness, a bit of extra colour space, and a new design. If this was HDR or 4K SDR I would be convinced the price is worth it. The only good news for me at this point is I am happily sitting with my X34p knowing it is not too far behind the "new" tech of 2019/2020. Oh and the response time is just labeled as "fast"
As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

This new IPS panel is a native 144 LG panel but because of the limitation of the V.1 gsync module It can’t do 144hz, just like the LG. I guess the V.2 module would have priced it way out so Dell made the choice. It is a bummer that in looking at the spec from the now 3 or so year old model, there isn't a more compelling reason to buy this new one, other than the new nano display marketing, when one can buy the current model now for 799.00 and get 100 in Visa card on top. I was waiting but I think my decision without seeing any review has already been made.

blairnorman Can anyone with certainty tell me if this monitor will work with 3D vision? Based on this article "any G sync monitor is compatible". Is that true? https://www.mtbs3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13672:news-for-3d-vision-gamers&catid=35:news&Itemid=73
It will not work as 3D Vision Compatibility was halted years ago for displays. You will need to buy an old display that does not include any ultrawide or 4K displays. Google "3D Vision Compatible Display List". And dont forget that 3D Vision compatible drivers were discontinued as of a couple months or so ago.
