So, some people are going to cringe at this.

I'm running a major undervolt. (no I am not having issues with thermals, I'm just doing the exact same thing I did with the 5950x, find the power floor with out losing more then 5% performance.)

So for this exact unit, that floor is 825mv, with the boost curve set to deliver the cards rated 1800mhz boost clock. (down from the 1950 / 1125mv the car was hitting the wild)

The results were far better then what I expected, power draws of 275w down from 425w, peak temps of 52°C down from 70°C, and best of all performance hits in synthetics of less then 5%

Timespy GPU Score: Default 20,274 / Undervolt 19,413 (4.3% slower, 35% less power)
Port Royal Score: Default 13,186 / Undervolt 13,099 (0.7% slower, 35% less power)

This unit is astounding! This also gives me plenty of thermal headroom when I do need more power later. I held on to my Titan X for 6 years, purchased it new when they came out in March of 2015. I did not start overclocking that card till 2020. I hope to have a similar run with the 3090!

Oh man, RGB on makes me feel sick, so this is the one and only time I will have RGB on.

RGB is a matter of taste and your choice is very subtle and looks great.

It is an 11 year old Zalman CNPS9900 Max. People still do not believe me when I tell them it cools my 5950x more than adequately. But lately I've noticed people also refuse to accept proof of something working either.
