Hello,
i wanted to share my experience with my almost new graphic card.I bought my RTX 2080 TI XC Ultra on december 2018 and ran it at stock clock for 4 month with no problems. Then , after watching some tutorials on youtube i decided to try the overclock of my hardware , and here come the surprise.
After downloading the last vesion of Precision X1 i changed the power limit to 130% and tried Heaven benchmark and Timespy.
With a big surprise all the tests crashed at stock clock.......So i decided to try some Overclock at 100% and reached the perfect score of +40 on core and +600 on RAM. ( Peak clock spikes at 1995 mhz). Just to be clear, all of this was done with fan spinning at 100%.
So what do you think? Am i doing something wrong? Did i pouchased a card with no OC potentiality? Why i cannot even pass test at normal stock with increased power limit?

Thank you in advance.

The first thing I would do is go into the OC scanner and run that to get the score you should put into the clock setting. After you do that test to see if it's stable for a bit. Next you can increase the memory but I would go for smaller steps of like 200mhz at a time and see if it is able to run a couple benchmarks without any crashes or visual errors. You can even increase the clock but just a little bit since the scanner is probably pretty good at finding the safe max. If your going for manual you might want to just start at 50 for clock and then add 25 each test until it's unstable.

Biggest thing though is to start with the scanner to get an idea of what the card can do. Then test and continue to test often. Sometimes when overclocking it will run a benchmark just fine for the short benchmark runtime but when you load a game and are playing for a few hours things can become instable. That is why I recommend starting with an OC and over a few days consider increasing the number until it's unstable and you have to role back. Also keep in mind you have the 9 profiles you can store so it's easy to role back to the last stable overclock if you find errors.

Thank you. I forgot to mention that I have done an OC scanner with default setting that gave me the score of +34 ^^. Seems to be the same I found with manual, almost...
And playing BFV for 1 h just ran smoothly.

Are you powering the card with two separate pci-e power cables instead of a single pci-e cable that splits into two 6+2's?

There is a pretty major difference between 100% and 130% power, in that even on the stock MHz vs. Voltage boost curve, the card is going to hit much higher frequencies because it can get more voltage, where it might not be stable.
