I have been thinking about adding a 2nd case fan for almost a year to the front of my computer as an intake fan. Thinking could it hurt to move more air in and keep all components happy and working well for many years.
Want to use an OEM 4 wire case fan (FOXCONN PV902512PSPF 0J) pulled from a decommissioned Lenovo H430.
If I did, I see a AUX1 (the mobo has 2 AUX fan headers) fan header on the motherboard. I got this info the IdeaCentre 710 Maintenance Manual. AUX1 Fan socket is number eleven below.
7. Aux2 fan header / 11. Aux1 fan header / 22. System fan header
The questions are:
Is it as simple as just plugging the fan in and pushing the rubber dampeners into the metal chassis... would I need to change anything within the BIOS?
If I did install it but later wanted to take the fan out would the BIOS be okay with the than missing AUX1 fan or would I need to change something to get back to where I am today with no fan installed on AUX1 fan.
I found looking at another
710-25ISH on Newegg that has a photo of just what I want to do.
Edit: This computer is of the same family but with i7-6700, OEM GTX 750 Ti, and SSD and I think the PSU is a 400w 80 Plus Silver. Edit2: I don't know if the BIOS is the same?
