Hi all. So I pose this question concerning the eVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 series video cards. The FTW3 Ultra is what I chose for my Step-Up with eVGA but in looking at the card photos I mentally am analyzing something where I don't think the math is adding up to a successful cumulative answer. I use the Phanteks Eclipse P400A Mid-tower ATX case for my new system and installing video cards into it (my older eVGA GTX 1080 SC and my newer eVGA RTX 2070 Super XC) is a little bit tricky. Reason is the area of my motherboard (ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero) where you'd install the video card has a risen heatsink to protect the mobo's onboard audio components. Combine that with an opening in the back where you'd fit the metal end tab of the video card to align with the screw holes to secure it into place after placing it into the PCIe 4.0 slot and...you have to do a little bit of angled hand/card acrobatics to get the card to set into place in the back where the bottom metal tabs on the bottom of the video card would fall to the back bottom of the chassis behind the mobo and the screw tabs which allow for it be locked down when its inserted into the slot would go straight in before you lock it into the PCIe 4.0 slot. In other words this combination of hardware I have doesn't allow you to just maneuver the card straight into the back and then into the slot directly. I've looked at the back of the FTW3 series and I'm wondering: if anybody has my case/mobo combo how did you get the RTX 3080 FTW3 cards to settle in the back so you could lock it into the appropriate PCIe 4.0 slot? I know there's a chance nobody at this forum uses my case/mobo combo so I may not get an answer but I know it doesn't hurt to ask all the same. Write back with your thoughts and also, if you want to see photos of what I mean let me know if it'll help you any. I'll gladly provide them in a response. Thanks. Out!
