This is the real deal, the first real hardcore mobo for a AMD chip in a long time.

Pretty sure I'm heading for TR4. This is awesome but I want to see what MSI offers first and read a few reviews. Not to long to wait if Aug10th holds true. The biggest problem I see is finding a waterblock for it so I can add it to my loop.

I am surprised to see that everyone else seems to offer 10 phase or more for VRM for the CPU vs ASUS which uses a 8 phase. Makes me wonder if Zenith is not the only board in Threadrippers future or did Asus just drop the ball vs competitors this time?

I would like to have Treadripper but cash is a bit on the low side right now. If anyone wins the lottery keep me in mind!

I don't want any ryzen cpu's as they hold your gpu's back... https://forums.evga.com/F...my-5960x-m2686785.aspx
Oh, man. That's the best reason I've seen to overpay for an Intel product to date. Benchmark FPS.

Board ROG Zenith Extreme is really cool. Now I would rather choose 12 Cores AMD soldered with 60 PCI-E lanes than 8 cores Intel with thermal paste and 28 PCI-E lanes. What would you like more to build Intel i9-7900X and Rampage VI Extreme or AMD Threadripper 1950X and ROG Zenith Extreme?

Hmmm, this and the aorus board both look tempting, but without bootable NVME raid confirmation I am not buying anything. It's a deal breaker for me and the only reason I would go x299 instead of x399. Hopefully we hear some good news in the next couple days in that regard. The silence on this aspect from AMD and all motherboard manufactures is deafening. I will be genuinely surprised if threadripper failed to include this (at least to me) crucial capability. I hit up each of the board manufacturers asking about this to see if any will respond with a definitive answer.

If your benchmark fps is affected you can bet your game performance is also affected.

Immediately when someone say Skylake-X I remember thermal paste and Ivy Bridge. Only Ivy was resistant to 90C and could work Prime95 with AVX instruction on 4.8GHz whole night. I would like to see now any Intel CPU on 4.8GHz capable to resist heavy bombing with AVX instuctions on OCCT or Prime95. Delliding will help a lot, if someone is ready to destroy warranty, but even if people do that if they want to push CPU to the max frequency for normal conditions(not LN2) and 1350-1400V again CPU with any thermal paste will overheat faster and temps would be at least 10C better with fluxless solder method. The worse situation is when you want to reach some clock 4.7 or 4.8GHz and you know that just little need, but CPU fail because temp or throttle and you know in that moment that without thermal paste with soldered IHS you would reach that clock. People with air cooler have no reason even to complain. They will reach 4.5-4.6GHz and with thermal paste but temps will be serious. Problem is for people who have expensive custom loop and who need soldered CPU to cooling system show full benefits and cooldown 200-250W. Now we have Intel Xtreme with biggest power consumption than any before and thermal paste and over that 28 PCI-E lanes for most attractive model. But with AMD no problem, he will work on 100MHz more than fabric settings and that's it.

Ditto AMD is the way to go. If FPS is your concern the difference between the two is insignificant spend the savings on GPU. 1920X is all I need a good cruncher and more than enough for gaming.

There's a lot more to it than 8 vs 10. The 8 could be better in every way. We would need to know much more information to judge.
