https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-rog-swift-g-sync-gaming-monitor-to-ship-with-500-hz-refresh-rate ASUS ROG Swift 500 Hz is the newest monitor for e-sports, where every millisecond counts. This might not be the best gaming panel in terms of resolution or color accuracy (after all it’s a TN panel), but for competitive gaming those things do not matter as much as refresh rate. The G-Sync 500Hz is a continuation of the program that started in 2013 when NVIDIA and monitor makers announced the first G-Sync powered displays with G-Sync modules. The 500 Hz refresh rate is the highest thus far, outperforming even the previous G-Sync tier of 360 Hz. Neither NVIDIA nor ASUS have revealed the launch date and the pricing for this new monitor. One might guess it will not be cheap. Press ReleaseNext-Gen 500Hz G-SYNC Esports & NVIDIA Reflex Gaming Monitors Unveiled Ever since we revolutionized gaming monitors with the launch of G-SYNC in 2013, we’ve worked with our partners, and panel manufacturers such as AU Optronics, to craft faster and even-better displays. Less than a decade later, we’ve now got G-SYNC gaming monitors and TVs in every combination of size, speed and resolution that you could want, but progress still doesn’t stop. At COMPUTEX 2022, we’re introducing the newest member of the NVIDIA G-SYNC family – the ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Gaming Monitor. This 500Hz display has been designed from the ground up for esports, using a brand new “Esports TN panel” for maximum motion clarity. It also boasts NVIDIA G-SYNC Esports Mode with adjustable esports vibrance, and of course complete NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer support, allowing users to measure end to end system latency when using a NVIDIA Reflex mouse and GeForce GPU. 500Hz G-SYNC Esports displays are even faster, have even lower response times, and are specifically tuned for competitive games such as CS:GO, Valorant, Overwatch, and Rainbow Six Siege. Load up the video below to see how this new, cutting-edge display technology further improves target tracking, and allows competitive gamers to spot enemies even sooner: Flick over to our COMPUTEX 2022 NVIDIA Reflex article to learn more about Reflex and to see how it helps make you a better gamer. You’ll also find news about the new ACER Predator X28 4K 152Hz G-SYNC gaming monitor, and two new Cooler Master mice that support the NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer. I'm sure this monitor will not be cheap despite use of a TN panel.

There'll always be "that guy" that claims they can see 500hz refresh rate. They probably recommend Monster Cables for connecting it.

Will have to wait a while before getting one. My 390Hz started having flickering issues months after the 1 month return policy and Acer AOPEN will never see another penny of mine with their terrible customer support

Most major movies are still at 30 frames , but we need a 500Hz monitor for gaming- for sure.

What I said a week ago: At what point is it going to become pointless? This is starting to sound like what happened with audio. Audio suffered the problem that producing lossless audio which perfectly reproduced every human-perceivable sound became too technologically easy and cheap. "High end" companies no longer had anything to market, so then they had to start pushing technological limits which no longer mattered for anything other that marketing something technologically difficult; even though a human could not tell a difference other than in their wallet and via placebo. Average human visual reaction time: 0.25 seconds. 480 hz: 0.002 seconds. Pointless? Or worth marketing and paying extra for?

Relatively pointless compared to 144-240hz, sure. But reaction time doesn’t factor in display time. You can not react to something that isn’t there. So the faster it is displayed, the sooner you can begin to react. It’s not meant for people like us, so best bet? Ignore it and move on because it isn’t marketed at you or me anyway, so why are you wasting time even caring?

I would wonder if 500hz could be seen in something like VR for quick head turns. It could be something though that you would notice 500hz over 240hz or 300hz even in a flat monitor like this mostly because of the difference between the two refresh rates being so different and depending on the person they might be able to see slightly higher then 300hz. Hopefully that makes sense that I mean people who see faster refresh rates might be able to go beyond the current limits between the current and 500hz of this. I personally don’t think people can really see 500fps. Also as for movies it’s became more common for movies to be shot at 60fps with The Hobbit being the first one if I recall with some shot as fast as 120hz like Gemini Man for theaters. Unfortunately when it comes to them on cable they normally become 30fps to cut down on bandwidth.

Understood, but a few ms faster for any human? Still pointless regardless of who you are. There is way more delay everywhere else in the pipeline.
