Oh shut up. You're the one that came into this thread and opened it up after 4 weeks and started the discussion again.

That's mildly inappropriate for someone who cries to a mod every time strong words are used.

Intentionally crippling a product for the market is a violation of the Competition Act here in Canada. It's called abuse by a dominant entity.

I applaud Intel getting into the game which should go far to stop the nonsense that presently permeates the sector.

Let's get back on topic. Stop trying to change the topic beyond the scope of this conversation.

Nope, it's all in context and stop leaving out the part I was replying to.

4 weeks later -- because the update wasn't released until 4 weeks later -- I told you that you were wrong. So? Would you rather that I created a new thread titled "You were wrong" with links and quotes from this thread? That seems silly.

It's fixed in your world, but in the real world it is not. So you brought the issue back up because you think AMD has fixed the issues with this card. I'll be waiting in the next 4 weeks for you to open this thread up again and claim the issues with this card are fixed...again.

Sorry, but the issues you mentioned about the card not being able to be overclocked are fixed. The silicon is not broken. If you want to provide evidence to the contrary, feel free to do so. If you want to start a new thread, feel free to do so. Until you start a new thread, replies to you will be in the thread where your comment is made.

Should I repeat myself as well? I already replied to that. The unapproved power mods on the Radeon VII are buggy? So are they on the RTX. What's your point? Unapproved mods are always prone to be buggy. That isn't the topic of your initial claim.

In order to get the card to work at a decent clock speed he needed to use the power mod and modify the registry, plus he is asking if someone knows how to push more voltage into the card.. If he didn't do that. the card would not perform as it did. The card is not working correctly do this day.

"Needed"? Proof? Just because someone decides to overclock their video card doesn't mean that it is needed. "Decent clock speed"? Again, "decent" is undefined.

Your claim was that the video card couldn't be overclocked because the "silicon is broken". Wrong. Proven. Simple as that.

My position still stands. If you need water cooling, power mods and registry edits to get decent overclocking out of this card, it's not fixed. I'll wait another 4 weeks and see if AMD has fixed the issue for everyone, not those that are willing to implement the power mode and make registry changes.

i run my gtx 1060 at whatever EVGA set it. This way I know the card will last a long time.

I OC'd my cards once to see what sort of performance I could get and how the coolers performs, and after that they went back to various settings which I load depending on the game. The Vega 56 is undervolted, matter of fact. No need to over rev the engine when going for a leisurely cruise. Unless of course you want to tell your friends you're pulling 140 FPS on a 60Hz panel.

AMD is now saying this is a bad card for gaming, so maybe people will try to stop pushing this hot mess of a card as a gaming card. $700 for the Radeon VII for gaming is a joke, maybe they can get some compute people to buy up the cards AMD has made and get out of it as fast as possible.

Now AMD needs to figure out how to fix Navi 7nm process so it doesn't end up being a terrible gaming card like the Radeon VII.

Got a link that proves AMD said that?

I been thinking about getting the Radeon VII. Looking at all the reviews, everyone who owns one loves them.
Can hardly find any bad reviews, they all say the card is grate at playing games and is decent at folding and really good at
BOINC projects that use double precision, like the Milkywa project.
Not sure why people say the card is bad a playing games when darn near everyone who owns one loves it.

His linked response to you is this (not joking):

kram36

It's called reading between the lines of the of AMD's position. They know it's a bad gaming card, it's gaming issues can't be fixed with a driver. Turn on features not needed for gaming and get rid of the junk they tried to pawn off on gamers for $700 to people that might want it for compute. AMD may be able to get rid of the 5,000 cards they supposedly produced doing this as gamers are not going to be buying this card. A company doesn't take a $700 card and turn on features that makes it work like their $3,000 because of no reason.

Brilliant.

I'm not sure where the disconnect occurs with him, but it seems he refuses to read or comprehend, or blatantly ignores  questions. This exact inquiry has been brought up before and his answer remains the same.

Or...... "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." That might be the adopted philosophy, here.

This is why you research. I heard plenty of negative feedback, mainly from reviewers, regarding Vega prior to notions of undervolting. Once that information surfaced the cards performance was lauded. What destroyed any chances of its success was the inflated price. I only bought one because I was blessed with a great deal, priced below what a GTX 1070 cost at the time.

If you need a card well balanced between gaming and compute the VII would be optimal. But if you primarily game and the RTX 2080 compute performance is relatively close to what the Radeon card delivers then that would be the better choice as the gaming experience is typically better.
