Well if you didn't know by now, prepare....

AMD is very shady behind the scene regarding the circumstance in which they supply hardware to social media reviews such as YouTube channels. They reportedly are going as far as telling channels in which they supply hardware for how to title their videos and what settings they can use to test. Welcome to the reality that is social media marketing. Can you really trust your favorite social media reviewer? Have they mentioned AMD behavior? If so why not? One guy recently exposed his dealings with AMD and has had enough of it.

Considering AMD routinely lies as a marketing strategy prior to product launches am I'm not surprised they would be pulling this type of stuff behind the scenes once again at the consumers experience.

Welcome to AMD Gate. Buckle up. Don't ever fall for the hype. Social media is easily exploited and the vast majority of "reviewers" are simply there to make as much money as possible at your expense.

This is no surprise at all. Many companies tell reviewers things that they are not allowed to do or tell.

It does appear based on his video that AMD is probably asking too much.

There is a reason I stopped watching Tech of Tomorrow tho. He seemed to over dramatize things a year or so ago and I got tired of it. Close to a bias imo.

As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

    Nothing is free, nothing.
What you want to look for are people who buy their own stuff or get their hands on it using connections or alternative channels.
You can also wait a few days after a new product launches and check out the user reviews.
I like when Jay from YouTube gives something a bad review and then pokes fun at the comment section and calls himself a shill.
You also want to see if the reviewer will say “this is sponsored content” in the video or in previous videos.

Damn bad move from AMD if it's true.
Wondering if Steve from Gamer Nexus is being told what to say from AMD as well (I think not, but still..).

Nope. He specifically said multiple times that they received their chips from alternate channels and are under no contract or embargo.

If anyone is surprised by this...I'd be surprised. They all do this. Remember when ASUS gave reviewers their ROG Strix 1070's with Samsung memory and sold consumer cards with Micron memory that didn't OC as well without telling anyone? Yeah, that was an accident.

In the aviation industry planes are sold at parties which include a cast of manufacturer representatives, military personnel, prostitutes, drugs, liquor and briefcases full of bribe money. That's exactly why I wanted to be a pilot.

If there is ANYONE here that believes others haven't played a similar hand in the name of increasing revenue they are delusional beyond any logical comprehension.

And to point out another fact in this thread, OP has a one sided agenda. Take a look at his other posts. Very predictable. But the best part is his use of a Youtube channel as proof. Brilliant.

Don't buy what? I think you guys don't realize what is at stake when somebody with (Deleted) comes out to state stuff like this. If he doesn't have documentation of his claims he can be easily sued for slander and you better believe a company would want to combat untruths like that. He won't be sued though because he must have evidence of his claims. So you can either believe it or not, but I'll tell you that it's not a secret that companies on social media do this thing and it's been heavily exposed in other industries. He mentioned game publishers which do it often.

Did you watch the video? Obviously it's not to the extent AMD was putting in conditions regarding review samples. Watch the video, come back and make a comment. AMD was the only company he's worked with that did such a thing.

Yeah, but most of the time Intel is presented as the bully while AMD is presented as the consumer's friend.
We can't really trust any of them.

i am happy that the underdog is getting the incumbent off its lazy socket. neither are my friend and i own both for various reasons.

Cinebench multithread, handbrake, cryptonight, and price tell me everything i need to know about a CPU to make a purchase decision and uninterested in chasing 5% fps at 1080p. i dont care what any reviewer says otherwise.

i think i started to get irritated after the 6xxxU series...calling a dual core an i7 is BS. Then releasing 6 cores only in response to the R7 1700x or 1800x.  the incumbent crossed the line in laziness. They put a chip in my shoulder for a while cause if i upgrade, i'll probably go with a threadripper 2.

on ryzen 2xxx series...a 10nm 'die shrink' that didn't actually shrink the die or the trannies is kinda like wth. i thought the point of shrinking the die was to get the trannies closer together/more trannies not increase the padding for the same number of trannies while keeping the overall silicon the same size... gimmick? the extra mhz/performance comes from well decreasing the distances given a constant speed of light? there could be electrical and thermo benefits from additional padding.

I always enjoy the banter regarding fps, and how Intel is destroying Ryzen with that colossal 10fps advantage at 1080p and 60Hz. Then they claim not to be Intel cheerleaders and the extra fps is worth the additional $1,000,000.

My favorite part of the video is him getting mad about AMD not liking a question mark in his video's title. Making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Fanboys gonna fanboy. If this were Nvidia I have a feeling most of the posters would be calling for blood. The proof is out there. A guy with balls to expose it does and suddenly every nobody has a conspiracy theory otherwise.

What's Tech of Tomorrow real agenda behind this. Most of the product reviews i have watched of his, he gives the vendor lip service. Now he all of a sudden attacking AMD. I wonder which NVidia vendor hes trying to win over by doing that.

    hahaha no.

Steve from Gamers Nexus addressed his dealings with AMD in a video released today. Basically he confirms how ridiculous AMD can be and told them to pound sand as well. Obviously being the master diplomat though he put in some obligatory they-may-be-changing comments, but that has yet to be seen. TBH I've been hearing that regarding AMD for well over a decade now it's pretty much a running joke as far as I'm concerned. Not just about their exposed shady marketing practices but everything they are involved in. It's always changing and going to get better, but it never does.

Really this is what happens a lot. They really don’t care what you say though just will require you to benchmark games they select. They also will require it the length of the review and often will send along like a 27+ page reviewer guide in addition to several promotional pictures to use including game screenshots for the games you have to benchmark.
