AMD has been improving its Zen core design, and with the latest Zen 3 IP found in Ryzen 5000 series CPUs, it seems like the company struck gold. AMD's upcoming Ryzen 5 5600X CPU has been benchmarked and compared to other competing offerings. In the CPU benchmark called PassMark, which rates all of the CPUs by multi-threaded and single-threaded performance, AMD's Ryzen 5 5600X CPU has taken the crown of the fastest CPU in the single-threaded results chart. Scoring an amazing 3495 points, it is now the fastest CPU for 1T workloads. That puts the CPU above Intel's current best—Core i9-10900K—which scores 3177 points. This puts the Zen 3 core about 10% ahead of the competition.

As a reminder, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU is a six-core, twelve threaded design that has a base clock of 3.7 GHz and boosts the frequency of the cores to 4.6 GHz, all within the TDP of 65 Watts. The CPU has 32 MB of level-3 (L3) cache and 3 MB of L2 cache.

Comparing a 6 core AMD to a 10 core Intel using only base clock. Seems legit...  Also wondering why that chart does not show what clock the 5600X was running at, where all the others are at the base clock. Shady...

I think I had the Phenom II X4 940 as my last AMD proceessor. Already have board, memory, and gen4 SSD ready for the release on the 5th!

Haha, I am in the same boat- have everything except the CPU ready to drop in. Well, everything except a 3080, but that's a different story...

    Same.

If AMD hits the price-point to performance sweet spot with Big NAVI I might go full Team Red this time around.

I think my last AMD was the Phenom II x3 Black (don't recall exact model) hoping it was one of the ones I could unlock the 4th core for free.  Didn't win that lottery but it was still a good system. I'm eyeing the 5900x now.   After seeing a few videos today, it's possible supply won't be an issue; at least the videos make a compelling argument, so that's what I'm hoping for.

    Mushkin 240GB SSD

    1TB Seagate SSHD
